When the brain doesn’t engage and the mouth does, or vice versa then I am in big trouble, Β Jesmcd2 . I am finding that when I am overwhelmed, this cog fog gets exponentially worse. It’s frustrating, to say the least.

That's called diarrhea of the mouth & constipation of the brain. I also suffer from this. πŸ€ͺπŸ™ƒπŸ€£Ps sorry πŸ™ for being so graphic, but it applies.

Hi Jesmcd2 πŸ™‚I deal with ALL of the above. πŸ€ͺ

But what really bothers me most, right now, is constantly forgetting what I was saying (in mid sentence)πŸ™ƒ

That drives me crazy..

I’ve been ill with some unknown virus for a week. When I’m sick, my brain fog gets worse.

I’m going to the doctor later and I’m going to have to be really careful driving.

Y'all are probably tired of listening to me about food & how it has affected me. I have found that sugars & carbs will give me brain fog and also pain meds like Tramadol & Meloxicam. I've also learned that fasting will stop the brain fog after about 12 hours. I regularly fast one day a week now & I'm feeling so much better. Fasting will naturally put our body into ketosis where it needs to be. You don't really need a keto diet. Moving down off my soap box now😁

I especially hate losing my thought mid sentence. Or worse, as I once did, forgetting who I am talking to mid conversation...when I am looking at him.

I saw a friend at church & was trying to recall a friend's name that I see every week who is mutual friend. Remembered her name when he left & totally embarrassed. Groan

NorasMom profile image

My problem is pronouncing names. I "see" them in my head, because I've always had a thing for words, and visual works better for me than hearing anything. Anyway, for many years my job had a regular caller named "Evie". Honest to God, I mispronounced her name every single time, even when she had just said it. The lovely woman always laughed, but as someone whose name is frequently mispronounced I always felt so bad about it. I did this for YEARS and she never once complained. If you're out there, Evie, I'm sorry!

I have long conversations with the dog and then suddenly stop and ask him what we were talking about. The day he answers me I'll know I've completely lost it.

I was going over paperwork verbally when checking in for a procedure and they asked my husbands name.

I forgot his name, MY HUSBAND!

We had been married 31 years at that time. Sometimes you just have to laugh at what happens. πŸ₯°

I was reading your post and, I'm sorry, what was I saying? πŸ˜‚. But seriously, the brain fog, which I call "cotton head" is so frustrating. I constantly forget simple words like "table". I always know the word in my head and can say the first letter, but I cannot get the word out. Drives me crazy.

Jesmcd2 profile image
Jesmcd2CommunityAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toHelpmeup

πŸ˜” We get it! Changing the names of objects, people, places can be frustrating... But its Not your fault! So make up a word for table and call it a humming bird! And smile! πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ
