My Apologies

I haven't been on here much because of two almost personal scares. First, many of you know I've been on 100% quarantine to home & yard since Mid-February due to a hip replacement and blood tests showing I was very anemic. Along about the first of August, I started riding along with my husband and just waiting in the car while he shopped etc. Two days later he became violently ill, most of the Covid systems, his VA doc sent us to the local hospital, which had tents set up outside for Covid testing. I hadn't driven since the hip surgery, but managed to drive our stick shift SUV. That was a Tuesday, on Thursday PM, they called and he is Negative (Thank you Lord) It took about two and a half weeks for the worst flu ever to leave his system. He is still regaining his strength. He hasn't even practiced golf since July! Second reason, I consider myself somewhat computer savvy. With all that is going on these days, I've signed up for a few News Reports.. I clicked on a link in an article and my whole desktop FROZE UP. Microsoft popped up and offered assistance. It seemed legitimate, so I gave them control of the Desktop. Next thing I knew they convinced me my current Anti-virus was no good and I signed up for their service for 5 years and $499.99. I researched them later and found out the whole thing is a bunch of scammers!! It was supposed to be a 12 day trial, but by the next day they had charged my credit card. I called my bank, but could not stop the charge. I cancelled the card. They kept on calling me and I told them I would find a way to get all my money back and report them to BBB. So never agree to have anything to do with "A2Z Cleaners!!! My bank is working with me and will replace the funds. Monday, it will be 2 weeks since this all started, and even though I've been able to reinstall all my original Anti-virus Internet protection, I'm still leery about using that pc. Lessen learned!!

Hi CalfeeChick ...sorry you’ve gone through all that! Scary stuff!

Please consider having your PC reviewed by a computer repair expert. Since you temporarily gave access to some unknown organization, they could have installed malware or a Trojan, or a key logger in stealth mode meaning that your anti-virus software might not detect it. Not all anti-virus software works equally well and in fact one of the best known, McAfee, is not one I would recommend. Just a suggestion. (I was a software engineer in my previous life.)

It’s real scary how someone can take over your computer. I had a problem with my Apple Mac and I had to phone Apple . Well what the guy couldn’t do to the Mac from over the phone was real scary. Fortunately it was the real Apple engineer, but unfortunately in this day , you start questioning who you can trust as there are so many scammers. Pleased your hubby is recovering well and that you didn’t get it, Blessings Jimeka 🤗

I have gone from being a trusting soul to suspecting everyone. It's a dreadful experience which you can do without especially while still recovering. Keep well and hopefully things will improve from now onwards.🥰

Sorry you have had to deal with so much bad stuff! I'm lucky my husband is a techy person. He knows all about those scammers and has warned me about scammers. Always check the address bar at the top. There you can see if they are legitimate or not. As an example Microsoft will say "Microsoft.com". If there are any other words or letters like "abc.microsoft" before the .com then they aren't legitimate. The best virus protector we have found is PC Matic & also use CCleaner to clean the cache and get rid of any unnecessary file extensions. Also if you should get a virus or ransomware don't touch any of the keys and don't turn it off, just unplug your computer if it is a desktop or take the battery out if it's a laptop. Wait a few minutes then you can plug it back in or put the battery back in and go on, run your virus scanner and cleaner. It was a website that you went on that had that virus on it so don't go back there.

Oh goodness, CalfeeChick When you said that your hubs was violently sick, possibly from the COVID-19 virus, my heart sank. Then you said that his test was negative, but he was sick with the flu, I was somewhat relieved. Then your computer was hit with a virus, and my heart sank again, but you're bank is helping you recover your funds, but your computer might still cause you issues, my heart sank again. You have certainly been on a roller coaster ride, and my heart goes out to you so that you can get off that ride as soon as you safely can. Life is certainly not boring, but I wish that it were sometimes. You're hips are getting better, little by little. Keep Smiling :-D
