A Few More Ideas to Deal with Heat

Some of these I would never do, such as putting on frozen sheets every night. But there might be some ideas here which would be useful:

Wow, there are a lot of ideas presented in this article that I didn't think of, greaterexp Thank you for sharing, and I will certainly try a few, because the dog days of summer have yet to arrive! :-D

I obsessively turn off and on the air, especially at night. Even for "normal" people, the bedroom temperature should be no warmer than 65 degrees.

Frozen sheets? To freeze. wouldn't they need to be wet, and when they thawed, wouldn't you be lying in a puddle...in your bed...with a wet mattress pad and wet mattress?

A couple of the examples didn’t make sense to me. Changing sheets requires a lot of energy and makes me overly warm, even in cool weather. Having anything wet on the skin for hours probably isn’t very healthy for the skin. There were a few other ideas I hadn’t thought of and hadn’t seen in the usual lists of cooling ideas, so I thought I’d pass it on.

Crisp clean sheets are wonderful enough in the summer! but I agree about the effort it takes to change the sheets. I always feel as if I've accommplished a major task when I strip the bed and change the sheets.

I feel the same way and dread doing that. It's exhausting.

I used to use Chillows?, a sealed plastic wrapped sponge you soaked with water, then refrigerated, and stuffed into your pillowcase along with your pillow. Great while it lasted, I stress, while it lasted. Instead, turn the window unit to the bedroom, WAY DOWN. Wake up with frost on the nose! Got central air? So do we. Not a replacement for the window unit!

My latest friend is a Makita fan powered by a battery stolen from my drill hammer. It runs all night for two nights. They say 17+ hours, on low. These Lupron hot flashes come and go seemingly without warning but a press of a button it fixes these little episodes. The battery can be recharged 1,000 times or so. Model DCF 102 and a 5 Ah battery. I suggest two batteries to always have one at the ready. Set on a little table right next to the bed on low does it. Highly portable for use throughout the day.

A little pricy but definitely worth it. This little gem does the job.

Hope this helps!

Fan only. Battery and charger are extra.
