Here’s hoping to bright ideas!

I’ve missed getting to my PT appointments. 1. Not being able to drive there I cancelled all of my follow.up appointments, forgetting how difficult it was to get set up with her.

2. We received our bill & it was more than we planned on so so I need to see if once a week is worth it or if twice is really the what we need to do. I was hoping that DH would be able to meet her & talk to her about it.

3. Since all of my falls, how I can prevent them. (I know I have to swallow my pride and accept help for some of them, but some are due to my legs just giving out-even my stronger leg can’t withhold the sudden weight of body lopsidedly falling !)

4. I’ve been missing my hugs. One thing that drew me to Carrie, my therapist, she isn’t stuffy. She comes from a hugging family. 😁 In fact, when her family came to visit her, I asked her to give them hugs for me to. She laughed, but when I told her my struggle to see my Dad & his struggle to see me she stopped laughing & said she would. When she got back, the hugs were given but her family reacted the way she did, but they “hugged” me back 😊 I can’t wait to tell her what my family did with the wheelchair & that I’m visiting him this weekend right after he is having a procedure done that is supposed fix his pain issue & he may be able to come & see my brother and I next 😁 I can’t wait to tell her that!!! She is more of a friend than a therapist! But she always sends homework home with me, which is appreciated since I can’t get there as often as I’d like.

Yes she’s awesome! I so missed Connie, the administration assistant & needed my hug from her & to get caught up since on the reminder call all I told her was about my tumbles & told her I was saving the best news for my appointment. I can’t forget Carrie’s support staff. My SIL, Heather, was so impressed, even comparing them with her physical therapy appointments. After I finish this post & my watermelon I’m going to give going up the stairs on my butt a try & let you know if that goes without complications 😊

And as for Dad we will see... my SIL said that my Dad gave up on all drs but when he & my my stepmom got their invite to my brother’s 25th wedding anniversary party, this appointment had new meaning 🥰 so we are hoping that it ends well Thursday 🤗

I got up my stairs with no issues & in my bed with no struggles! Amazing! I even changed my pants & it didn’t take 15 minutes!

The only downside to the whole event was when I got my watermelon 🍉 that DH so lovingly cut up but it was in a very heavy ceramic bowl that he’s own as a set from Starbucks before we got married. It slipped out of my hands as I was trying to put it on the counter & shattered into pieces. A few larger chunks but quite a few slices of ceramic pieces. Well, I was able to rinse it all off & sucked it to make sure I wasn’t eating glass. I rinsed off the rest & will attempt to glue it together. Once I had that done, I got out out small vacuum & cleaned up what I could, but didn’t 🛑 there. I grabbed the mop, sprayed the floor with OxyClean & let it sit a bit & CLEANED the floor. What inspired this was my dear SIL when she dropped me off I showed her how I get in my apartment on my own. Even though I’m much worse than I used to be, I’m still self-reliant in some things- she was impressed, because in PT, I wasn’t. I wanted to show her one thing that I would like assistance with (& I told her I wasn’t asking her because she had already done so much) I was just letting her know if anyone asked if there was anything they could do to help out. I showed her my dining room & it was roomier than she remembered. I just wanted to move my smallish dining table to make room for my husband’s apparatus to make it Schwinn into stationary bike as part of pt at home & I so miss my bike! What did she do but put everything down & arranged it even better than I ever imagined! I didn’t want to let go when she hugged me goodbye & she hugged me so tight 😂🥰😂🤣 Ergo I started to clean. I hope it makes up for the broken bowl!

Right before I was diagnosed I was riding my bike when my legs decided they couldn't move and I fell and broke my arm in 4 places. Tha national MS Society paid for a recumbent trike so I can still go out. The only way this trike would crash is if I was going fast downhill and turned. Northern Indiana has no hills so I'm safe there! I have a Sun trike. It's one of the lesser expensive ones. They paid for it and I can bike!

How nice! Not about crashing & breaking but about the free trike! I’m looking forward to my bike being stationary (of course since it is a two- wheeler my physical therapist wants me by a wall) 🥰 it’s nice feeling feeling cared for!

I would probably find a way to fall off even a stationary bike! The seats on recumbents are so comfortable! I could sit in mine and read a book!

My goal is to get better because I really want my legs back & my independence! So I won’t be reading, more listening to something motivational or music that gets my heat moving (Guns n Roses worked when I was younger then the girl-band Bond got to me. Instrumental but by no means a yawn-fest!!🎻🎸🎷🎹)

My PT visit Tuesday was actually a re-evaluation since it’d been a couple of weeks. After hugs and meeting my SIL, we went back & got started. With the first ´test’ she asked me if I thought I was better, the same, or worse than when I first came in. I said ‘if you asked me this before our last appointment, I would have said ´better’, AFTER the appointment ‘the same´, but TODAY l definitely have to say worse.’ She said she agreed but she wanted to know why I thought so.

My 1st appointment was because of balance issues due to weather, but thx to the PT & advice I’ve been able to adapt. But after one PT appt it was very humid & HOT and my leg had a hard time finding the brake as I pulled out of the parking lot. That fender bender caused my body a lot of anxiety, especially when I had to get home. (Thankfully no one was hurt & I found out my car is affordably fixable (so the ❤️of my life can re-sell it🤪) I Hung up my keys willingly (after a couple dings not filed with insurance) But she agreed that those were two big considerations that made a lot of sense😜

She agreed to trying once a week (out of my husband’s concern $$$) & he has to check with HR about how long we have🤔 but he can’t keep putting off pulling my from the basement {It IS 1 1/2 floors down, so NOT an easy task after working 2 jobs}
