G'Day family. If this subject upsets "YOU" please do not read. I will be mentioning skin tone. As we all know, My skin tone is brown, my genetic, ethnic background is mixed. West Indian (Caribbean), Australian (Tasmanian Northern English)
Back in the old days, 20+yewars ago. I was told dark-skinned people did not get ms. Due to the prevalence of Vitamin D and pigment of the skin. Now I see that there is a group of Dark-skinned women with ms online. This seems to make sense as from my brief observation these women seemed to be from the Northern Lattitudes, where ms is more prevalent. I grew up in Northern Australia, North of the Tropic of Capricorn, but was born in Cols dark southern England in the middle of Winter. To a Father who was from Tasmania, Australia. A state with a very high percentage of people with Northern English Ancestory and a high percentage of people with ms. I find this interesting. Cold and ms beat warm and brown. Anybody else notice this? Am I just imagining a trend, a pattern? What is the ms population in Sth Africa like. Anybody know?

Good points. I always wondered about that. I wonder if its not so much skin tone as it is not having the exposure to sun light?
I am a northern breed (like my dogs) so i avoided the sun like the plague so as not burn. When i did go in the sun - i cud be wearing spf 50 and still burn. Whenever i met a new group of friends they wud say “u exaggerate” so i wud go to the lake and prove my point.
Never thot much about vitamin d levels. I took multi-vitamins. Drank milk. Thot i ate healthy.
exposure to sunlight, hmm I did avoid the sun when I was younger, I do not think my brothers did as much as me, I to take lots of vit D these days, but still avoid sunlight, maybe ms is code for vampire?
Your post does bring up an interesting point of whether demographic plays a role in the development of 'ms'. I would say that it does, as does the environment, genetics, and happenstance. Much is known about 'ms' but so much more needs to be learned.
It has been thought it something to do with latitude and longitude if you're from or live between these areas that is the most cases originate. I highly recommend vitamin D3 and at least a good multivitamin every day. I'll find the meridian's and post it.
Northern giasphere 45 degrees north to 65degrees North similar in the southern hemisphere is the most cases of M.S. in the world if you research it it will give the latitude and longitude map
It is widely claimed that geographical location matters. I found an article about migration and ancestral origins but can’t seem to post it. At first this theory makes sense BUT it would need more info as people in South America, Mexico, Africa etc have it too. My other thought is that my ancestors are from Canada by way of France (everyone but ➡️& Scotland (paternal maternal side on paternal side-my dad’s mother’s father). These were very large families over multiple generations yet I am the unlucky ONE w MS and where I grew up (60 miles south of Quebec border) you’d think MS rate would be higher as we all had similar origins but it is not-so it’s obviously much larger than ancestry and/or geography!
I was always outside. Vitamin D has been “normal” when checked over the years by PCPs. I take supplement now per Neuro so level is actually on high end. Low Vit D is out as “cause”. I was not sick as a kid-no mono, no ear infections, no bronchitis etc-just chicken pox in 5th grade w everyone else that year!
So many possibilities yet no answers. It’s like the stars needed to align at a certain time on a specific day at the right temperature with just enough wind 😐
It is pretty interesting. It has been a while, but I read somewhere that virus' may play a part in the development of MS. I had the "Hong Kong" flu and Chicken Pox in the same year when I was 14. As a dramatic 14-year-old, I just knew I was going to die. At the time I had the Chicken Pox I was really sick and even had pox spots in my mouth and eyes with 104 temperature for 3 days. About 4 months later I ended up with the Hong Kong Flu. Again, a high temperature for several days, couldn't breathe, it felt like I had bricks on my chest. I've wondered if that had anything to do with having MS. I also have olive skin. My family line comes from France and England and I was born & raised in So California. So if the virus and environmental things are true, I got hit with a double whammy! I am the only one in my family with MS, including my extended family.
