I know some of you sweet people said you have had very similar injuries to mine, broken foot bones with terrible sprains. My question is...was it excruciating for you? My foot hurts so bad! I ice it, I have the boot on it for now. They cannot cast it, it is way too swollen. But it hurts so much I have trouble sleeping, getting comfortable, everything. Have any of you experienced this? Is there something I am missing? Ibuprofen, aspirin, Tylenol are not helping. Please advice! Much love, Kelly

Have a question about my foot injury
Message goatgal hers was so bad they had to pin it, she will tell you about pain, I am so sorry that you are going through this, prayers for healing are sent your way, Blessings Jimeka 🤗💜💐🍫🦋
Thank you. I remember when she had that horrible incident. I will pm her. It is the middle of the night here and the pain is keeping me awake. You asked me a bit ago about my doggies. I have my same ones. A cairn terrier, Maddie and a Bichon, Harley. They are both about 6 years old now. Maddie is so clever. Harley is quite the couch potato, prefers to just lay around with me or follow me whatever I am doing. His favorite activity is digging in dirt. Maddie lives to chase the ball. She goes until she can barely move! They send Razor sloppy doggy kisses. Love, Kelly
Bichon Freiz’s love to get dirty! Have rescued 5 and they all loved to play in the dirt and help 😆☺️ Ken 🐾🐾
Kenu. Mine is also a rescue, the shelter had just put him out and I was the first to see him! I said I want him, not yet really knowing much about him. It was one of those match made in heaven experiences. He rode home with me and Maddie like he had always been there. And has basically never left my side for all these years! He sleeps right against me and watches every move I make! I think he was abandoned as a puppy. . But I do not know. Great love bug, but oh so dirty! Thankfully loves to get showered! Would get one again in a minute. Kelly
They are great little furbabies, like I say have rescued 5 over last 40 years. Sniper loves getting a bath 🛀, but loves helping in the yard. He’s my shadow. First male, but was fixed early so doesn’t raise his leg. Doesn’t bark much except at neighbor kids. We also adopt standard poodles 🐩 Great dogs. Have a wonderful week 👍🙏😉
My Bichon is funny. He hardly ever barks. He is able to, but in the 5+ years I have had him, I think I have only heard a real bark maybe 5 or 6 times. Usually he barks silently! My little cairn thinks she is a German Shepherd and a guard dog. Not an obnoxious bark, but will bark at strangers or strange noises. Got to love Bichons!
have you tried to not have the boot on at night just with an ace bandage on it and use the ice on it and try to go to sleep that is what i do yes it will melt but i can at least sleep for awhile..and i use aleve for the pain...hope you get some relief ...try calling the doctors office or er for help ...so sorry but i do know the pain you are in ..it is terrible...
Yes, I am doing that, but thank you so much! The doctor told me to sleep with the boot on for the first week, but the first night it swelled inside the boot so bad it was awful. So I have taken it off tonight and have ice on it. It does help some, but not much. Hate to whine. At least my foot is very colorful! All the shades of blue and purple! I have a good excuse not to clean, but I must admit I actually like to clean. 😁 Thank you so much for being so kind, it means so much. Much love to you, Kelly xx
Sleep with it elevated above your heart (that reduces the swelling which causes some of the pain);the rest of the time, keep it elevated as much as possible ( used a chair, boxes, little folding foot stools (I know, I know - this is difficult). The other thing I can do (and I know how crazy this sounds) is to talk to an injury. In the case of my various broken bones, I talk silently to the site of the injury. The ankle script goes something like this: "it was a terrible shock to you, slipping off that step. All sorts of things were twisted and snapped. I know you were frightened and hurt but you are safe now. I'm taking care of you. You're out of danger so calm down, rest. Rest and heal. I'll take care of you." And I would repeat something similar several times each day/night. In fact, almost two years after the ankle injury, I still have to have a similar conversation with myself when something knocks or brushes against the side of my ankle where the plate lies under the skin or (20 years later) when I knock my once fractured and pinned left wrist against something.
And as for the swelling: I still wear compression knee highs every day because my ankle is still swollen. These breaks cause a lot of tissue and nerve damage that takes a long time to heal. The brain also seems to have a primitive sort of memory that isn't logical: when my father's leg was amputated, he still felt it was there.
I hope you find even a tiny bit of this helpful.
goatgal. Thank you! Wonderful help. I WILL speak gently to my injury. I know it works with plants and animals, why not my own body? Very good advice. I know you have first hand, massive experience. My grandfather lost his five toes in a farming accident. The family just buried them in a box. He couldn’t get his foot comfortable. He had them dig up the box and align the toes properly. After that his foot quit bothering him. Isn’t it amazing how the mind and body are so intertwined? Hope you are well and your garden grows well. Love, Kelly
Ice and elevate! The pain will subside as the swelling goes down.
As goatgal said, it must be elevated ABOVE your heart as much as possible, day and night.
Amore55 I'm sorry you are in such pain. May need to call your dr or er to let them know you are in so much pain and they may be able prescribe you something stronger for the pain. As others have said, keep it elevated! Hope you get some relief soon.
Ice and elevate!
Pain from a foot injury can be brutal. A main part of the the injury that is causing pain is the swelling, so keeping it elevated above your heart is a good idea. Once the pain and swelling goes down a bit, consider a compression sock to help get the remaining fluid out of your foot. Have you seen a specialist yet, or just ER?
I don’t speak English. Maybe I don’t understand English well when I read. Maybe because of MS is possible that I have problems with my lenguage .
You already have wonderful advice. Best of luck!
Ice and elevate, Amore55 And keep that boot on at night, when you sleep because you don’t want your foot to move and get re-injured. I broke my foot in 2017 and I needed to wear the boot everywhere. It was cumbersome but I didn’t want it to be my new normal! Follow your doctors orders, take good care of yourself, and Keep Smiling
