I've written about how much I love rivers, the peace, the power, the magic. What would the river, or anyplace be without friends. I didn't know anyone in this neighborbood when I moved here two or three years ago. Out of all the neighborhoods I"ve lived in, I like this one the best. I"m known here, respected here and have met a core group of river-minded locals here. We call ourselves 'Da River Crew". We run the gamut from folks in their 20s to some a bit more er mature. And we're pretty tight. Year-round and various and sundry evenings, several of us will gather on the bank for a brew, some games, food, fires, great music and good times at a place we call Food Stamp Beach Supper Club (we do have a website food-stamp-beach-supper-clu..., which is kinda strange since I made it up as a joke 2 years ago. Google still publishes it as a nightclub (ok, to be fair, I did take it a bit far making fake commercials and such, but it's been fun. 'Just ask the admiral, Admiral Bobby',[ you'll have to see the commercial to get that one]
I"m not sure what I'd do without 'Da river & Da RiverCrew. Lovers come and go, but good friends are a true treasure. Hold on to those you have, and meet new ones every day.
This is my friend Jen, one of the original crew trying to get in on the fall Chinook salmon run that has been really good here this year.
