I'm the same way Jackjosh with vitamins, they make me sick.
I'm not having a problem with thinning hair, but my fingernails are not as strong as they used to be. Biotin is supposed to be good for that also?
Do they really help? 🤗💕🌠
You might want to check on the side effects of the medicine you’re taking and see if it causes losing hair on your body Jackjosh and brutal nails Jesmcd2 . Perhaps a change would help. I found that eating a full meal and then taking vitamins helps a lot. In multivitamins, niacin can give you a warm flush that’s very uncomfortable and nausea with no food/ drink. Hope that helps.

same here. I used to not tolerate many of the multi-vitamins, multi-minerals supplements that my doctor actually recommended. After MS diagnosis, I cut it all to only take the very specific ones that might help with MS: Vitamin D, Zinc, and also Biotin. I always try to find the ones that have the least amount of additional, unwanted stuff in them. Typically, when they're marked "vegan" they tend to be better.
I would not get anything that says "good for the immune system" because with MS, our immune system is too strong or already misdehaving. No need to mess further with it.
I’ve used Garden of Life brand prenatals for two pregnancies now and could take them on an empty stomach with no issue, even when breathing air made me want to puke. Perhaps they make what you are looking for too. Their products are made from real food and contain enzymes and probiotics to aid in digestion. Collagen powder is another thing you could try that may not upset your stomach.
what grt info we get on this site...just thinkn of prenatal vits myself even at over 60!Best not get a comment from that Albertsons cashier!hahaha
I take biotin for my hair and nails and have noticed a big improvement. I used to not be able to grow my hair out at all and now its past my shoulders.
I take biotin it helps my hair get back thick & grow. When I was on Tecfidera it took my hair out bad so I went straight to biotin and it helped my hair grow and got thick.
Thank you all I just asked my doctor this morning about the biotin if they think that would be okay
When I experienced hair loss, I was also told my iron was low and dr started me on Ferritin (Ferrous sulfate) supplements. I still take biotin and Ferrous Sulfate, (I do not eat red meat); and I always take the Ferrous Sulfate after a meal to avoid stomach upset. I also used a supplement named Viviscal for a while which is specifically for hair loss. The combination helped me! I know we need to report all supplements to our dr and let them monitor bloodwork. Best of luck!
I tried the high dose biotin for a while. During that time my doc did some labs and some of my thyroid labs were off. Turned out they normalized with the next lab draw. Then I read that biotin, or at least the high dose (not sure about "normal" dose) can cause your thyroid labs to be off. Before the second lab draw I had stopped the biotin. I didn't find all this out though until afterward. Just an FYI. And speaking of hair, my nails have ridges and my hair falls out by the handfuls in the shower. Fortunately I have thick hair so it hasn't been noticeable - yet. 😃
I take 10,000 mcg of biotin a day. My hair was thinning a little (before my ms diagnosis) and my hairdresser suggested a supplement that she was selling that contained biotin. I went to a dermatologist about my hair and she said she usually starts people on 5000 mcg of biotin for thinning hair, which was way more than what was in what my hairdresser had. I took 5000 mcg for a while with great results.
One time i could only find a 10,000 mcg bottle at the store so i got it. Then had an ms annual appointment and i saw an ad on the wall about participating in a study for ms where you take biotin. I asked the doc about it and she said the study has one take WAY more biotin than 10,000 mcg. I was not interested in being in the study, but I’ve continued taking 10,000 mcg daily with super results with my hair
My doctor said there are no reports of hair loss with ocrevus so now im wondering
I have heard differently Jackjosh. I’m on the list to get approved for Ocrevus myself so have been doing lots of research! Hair loss is not listed as a possible side effect but it you read patient reviews (FB has a few groups) some people do talk about it. Some people also say the benefits of how they feel on the Ocrevus outweigh the annoying hair loss. Apparently not everyone experiences it, and from what I’ve heard it does come back. I’m only reporting what I’ve heard others share, I’m not on it yet myself. Considering all my options. It seems most drugs have some side effects! Pros versus cons is what we need to look at. What I’ve heard about Ocrevus is that 30% of patients actually report symptom improvement. I like that part!
The doctors want me to have my thyroids checked
