There is nothing to fear

Let me preface todays note, with a little background that some family members (That is you) may not have seen or remembered from previously.

I am under no circumstances a trained medical professional. Commercial Pilot yes, but that was a previous lifetime. Medical person of any type NO. If “YOU” are having difficulties I suggest that professional help may be of use. Self-medication is perhaps not the brightest thing having overdosed several time and do take notes because on a dark lonely night when “YOU” are in your own head, having some record of your drug intake and prescription instructions is a really good idea. Life saver actually, besides paramedics love to know what “YOU” just overdosed on.

Okay, are we all clear now, this is Royces opinion and observations over my twenty plus years of Relapsing Remitting ms (RRms) experience. Knowledge takes away fears. The more that “YOU” know about this disease and your disease in particular the better off “YOU” will be. Knowing the stages of ms, RRms, Secondary Progressive (SPms), Primary Progressive (PPms). That ms is a progressive disease, that ms is not necessarily linear, a straight line. I have RRms and have had it for twenty plus years does not mean that I will progress to SP then PP ms. It is a little more confusing than that. Okay a lot more confusing than that. ms effects our whole body, the entire central nervous system (CNS) Anywhere it wants to and at anytime it wants to. There are a million questions and even more answers. Maybe not answers more likely suggestions. Look, but accept that “YOU” most certainly will be confused as will your medical professionals. With RRms I have found vague suggestions from Doctors but very few hard and fast answers, and I have learned to be okay with this. Not happy, but I accept this because I know my CNS is large and this disease can effect anything at anytime.

So my dear sibling relax, learn to cope and adjust to your new normal, because this normal is anything but normal.

Let me finish by saying that ms is very doable, “YOU” can live with this and live very long and happily, but “YOU” have to choose to. Nobody but “YOU” are going to do it for “YOU”. “YOU” must make the choice to live well.
