Hiya. Not new to the disease but new to this platform. The day before yesterday I felt awful. Yesterday I felt okay. Today I feel pretty alright. Tomorrow is my Tysabri infusion which will kick off a new month of feeling like poo all over again. Yay! At least I’m staying on top of my game mentally. Hello community. I know I’m not the only one. I hope you’re all as well as can be. One foot in front of the other. Or if you can’t stand, one minute at a time. Love to you all.

This is the 5th med I’ve been on. Rebif-almost shut my liver down. Copaxone-I went into anaphylaxis after 2 months of use (that was really scary). TecFidera-I couldn’t stand up or bend down without passing out. Plegridy-liver issues again. I do really well with diet and exercise but when stress hits and I end up with an exacerbation, they immediately want me on a med. Today is my 5th infusion. After the 6th, if I’m still feeling like death warmed over...I will stop it. Unfortunately I had a few really big things hit me all at once...I moved to a new state (actually the Olympic Peninsula is its own universes), I was in a break up that lasted 6 months but was wanted for longer, then the disease started being that annoying friend that wants to hang out and holding a job became a concern. Wham...in the hospital with new lesions on my cervical spine. I have a reoccurring lesion on my brain stem already that makes motor skills and vision quite “fun” on occasion. I live in an incredible place where there’s nature a plenty and since January of this year I’ve been dying to experience more of it. Diet and exercise have been my best medicine. I haven’t needed much other medication while working on those two things either. Every day is a little better outside of this infusion. Maybe after the 6th infusion, the best option will in fact be to stop it. It’s not a long term med anyway. Too much potential for detrimental effects.

Thank you for your response. It’s nice to be in a group with individuals that are going through similar issues and that are supportive of each other.

Just a wild and crazy thought here. If ms is an overactive immune system whoever would I want to boost it?

Gessika profile image
Gessika in reply toRoyceNewton

As far as I understand, MS is due to a switch in the immune system being flipped telling it to attack the specific protein that makes up the myelin sheath. The why’s and how’s are still being worked out. I’ve never heard of it referred to as an overactive system. Now I will look into this further. Interesting.

Welcome to the gang! I’m sorry about the ups and downs, but the vast majority of us feel them from with MS, the DMTs, or both. This is a terrific place to vent and to get encouragement. Your great attitude already shines through. Thanks for sharing with us.
