This is a very confusing illness that we have. After over twenty years and many people helping me, and a lot of reading. Most of which I have forgotten I am still mostly bewildered by Relapsing Remitting ms (RRms) It just does not make sense, and every person seems to have an answer and so many are different and contradictory. Exercise, but do not exercise too much or "YOU" will overheat, and "YOU will develop problems. Eat this not that, take these supplements. This is the minefield in which we get to spend forty plus years in.

It does take time, "YOU will make mistakes but without a doubt if "YOU" stop for a second, take a deep breath and just think about it, things will start to make a little sense. Certainly not total sense but a little, and a little is all that we get in this our Life with RRms.

As a child, I grew up with a little plastic model of the human body; it had all the organs and where they went. It also had a lot of the main nerves. Believe me; there is a lot. These days I have a large poster on my office wall that shows nerves, again there are a lot. Look on google or WebMD that is what ms in all its forms is attacking. With all those nerves there how is anybody going to cure, "YOU" me or ms. Disease-modifying therapies (DMT) do a good job slowing down the relentless progression of our illness, but they do not stop it or cure it. Sadly, nothing does. It is up to each and every one of us to find a DMT that we can tolerate, take it, and then start adopting a lifestyle that keeps us moving forward in this our very long journey,

RRms is "VERY" far from hopeless. This is a manageable condition; it will take you some research and some time to start to get a handle on it. Regrettably, there are some loses, I will never fly again, and my car driving is limited to reversing 5 metres (15ft) but I have come to terms with it and it is okay, sex, on the other hand, is something I miss, but been there done that so I guess you learn to cope. There is a lot of adjustment, "YOU" need to learn to be like the flowing river, the never-ending path. Forever moving and changing. Never stopping in one place for too long, always moving forward.. My trigeminal neuralgia surgery worked fine, the ice picks in the side of the face have stopped, but thia is RRms will be back. I just need to be aware of it and accept that fact. RRms is a very big disease that nobody knows why it happens or what started it. Just because, just because. It will hurt again; my bladder and bowel will fail again, just because it can. "YOU" and I need to be ready for when. Be aware that these things "MAY" happen, take what steps we can to minimize our discomfort and forge ahead. We are human and this is a human disease. We have it because, because with a little effort we CAN handle it.

Royce, I love your attitude!! This disease is not easy for any of us but after 40 years of dealing with it, I have learned there is nothing that surprises me. One day at a time. One problem at a time.

Royce,

Good post, and advice. While the 'ms' is what we are afflicted with, we are all touched by this ailment differently. While one thing might work for one, might not for someone else. Adapt, adapt, adapt is the name of the game, here. Not 'playing' is NOT an option!

Keep Smiling,

Carole
