Persistent sweet taste.....

Hello. I have been experiencing a persistent sweet taste in my mouth for 2 weeks now. I've been checked for diabetes and everything was fine. I'm a bit of a worrier when it come to my health so this is freaking me out. Googling these symptoms says it could be something called SIAHD caused by lung cancer. Not a pretty thought. Apparently the low sodium level caused by SIAHD is the culprit. My sodium level was 135. The problem is The last 4 blood tests I've had showed sodium at 139 to 142. I'm at a loss here. A little freaked out as well.

Your sodium level is normal, any where from 135 to 145 as far as I know, but it maybe different in the States. I wouldn’t worry yourself, get to your doctor and have a talk with him/her. For all you know, it could be another weird symptom of ms . Let us know how you get on, blessings Jimeka 🦋

Hi krete ...I see that you just joined today and this is your only post. Do you have MS? I’m not going to assume that you do and you didn’t say you did in your post. That is what this forum is about.

We aren’t doctors here and can’t advise you. You really need to be working with your primary care doctor to get to the bottom of what you are experiencing. Using Dr. Google can lead you to the wrong conclusions if you don’t have the medical expertise/training to interpret the search results properly. Good luck to you!

Hi krete Welcome. I completely agree with what Raingrrl says about this. Talk to your Drs. And try brushing your tongue? That might help? Idk! But Google can be good and bad here. And sounds like it took you to a place that only your Dr should go!

I wish you the best of luck! And your always welcome here! 🤗💕

I’ve treated people with siadh. No one ever mentioned “sweet taste”. There are specific tests beyond a sodium that look at how well ur urine concentrates solutes that can also identify siadh. There are many meds that can cause low sodium (esp. some of the MS sx meds) and drinking too much water (diabetes insipid is) due to inc. thirst.

Hi, I have been experiencing the same and i thought it might be diabetes but after 15 tests including blood fasting sugar, post prandial , hb1ac, c peptide test, doctors says i am nowhere near having diabetes. I got tests from different labs and one particular lab shows my numbers in 103 to 111 range but other much larger and well known labs always show me in 90s. HB1AC is 4.7 . For the life of me no doctors are able to tell why this taste and it has been almost a month! I have reduced carbs quantity i used to consume but my diet still has largest portion in carbs in terms of ratio so how could it be ketosis. I am also afraid if it related to lungs now. I don't know vit b12 shows in range , is it nut allergy, wlanuts, almonds , no clue, did you find the cause in your case?
