I have been on tecfidera since April. I have been gaining weight since I’ve been on it. Or I feel like I have I do not own a scale but my pants don’t seem to fit right any more. I was wondering if anyone taking tecfidera had this problem?

J was on it about 5 yrs ago. Yes. I did. I gained about 50 pds very quickly because I wasn't on it long before I had sleep issues.

Not sure how much I’ve gained in the few months I’ve been on it but besides the diagnoses it’s the only thing I’ve done different beside vitamins. Plus eating better then before. So I thought it might be the meds.

I’ve been on it for 2 years and I haven’t lost weight.

Did you let them know what’s going on? I know each time I refill mine they ask me of any side affects

I've been on it just shy of a year. I am still roughly the same as before. But it does fluctuate depending on how fatigued I get and how much exercise I am to do with the fatigue. I've been an athlete since very young and hate that I'm no longer able to do anything like before. I get too fatigued too quickly.

I took Tesfidira for about 5 years I may have gained a few or more pounds but then again I was walking more. But since I have been off of it and not that mobile and now I am on Ocrevus I have gained weight. What other medicines are you talking? I would talk with your doctors PC and neurologist.

Going to talk with neuro today. I take the tecfidera vitamin d and biotin. Plus my birth control

Oh you know what you should look into the birth control I was on that a very long time ago and if I remember that can put on weight and it could be the combination of the drugs that could do it but don’t get off that. What else you can do is one call your doctor but in the meantime you can talk to your pharmacy the can let you know something.

Smartcloud1981 I agree with ssdw1958 check with your doc because when I was on birth control I gained weight. I think it depends on which one you are. The Depo is the one that made me gain weight so I switched to the pill form which I had to stop back in 2007 after a blood clot that may or may not have been related to it but to be safe I was taken off it. I have been on the Tecfidera for about 1.5 years now and I really haven't gained weight from it.

Hated the depo provera! Luckily, iwas only on it short term as menopause kicked off soon after that.

It was convenient at first but then started gaining weight. When I told the nurse I wanted to go the pill instead she was a little upset but agreed to let me switch. Pedi menopausal now I think. But can't do the pill anymore because of a blood clot in 2007 😞

Been on the pill for years because I get cyst. My neuro says he hasn’t heard about tecfidera causing weight gain.

Smartcloud1981 I have been on Tecfidera for 3 years now. I have not seen any particular weight gain issue, except for times that I am not actively exercising, and am eating all the goodies I want. When I am exercising and eating prudently I can lose weight. My thyroid med was recently doubled, so am hoping it will now be a little easier to back the weight down again. I try to follow the high protein, lots of veggies, low sugar type diet, but definitely enjoy my sweets. I don't think it is the Tecfidera.
