I will be starting Tecfidera over the weekend. I have been hearing a lot of negative side effects, has anyone had good experience with starting Tecfidera, or positives from being on it?

Tecfidera
I have been on it for over a year and I haven't had any problems
I was on Tecfidera for over a year am I didn’t have any problem with it. Can remember that I had the ability to snap my fingers and walk a little bit better.
Good morning Sadieschafer, it's Fancy1959. Just remember that everyone's responses to each and every therapy is dramatically different so don't go in expecting trouble when you start tecfidera or trouble you will find. I was on the DMT for almost 2 years. The only experience I ever had that was my latest concerning was having flushing from the drug. The first time I had it I have to admit it was kind of wow what's this! Then I got my information out on the truck and I read about it again and sure enough flushing was one of the major side effects. So I simply got in a bathtub of not quite cold water and took the wash cloth and just soothe myself and then probably 10 minutes the flushing has subsided. I didn't experience very much of it, it would just every once in awhile make me look like a cherry tomato from the top of my head to the tip of my tips! The main reason I got off the drug because I love the ease of use but taking it orally was that after about a year-and-a-half I started to notice an increase in my disability and sure enough tecfidera had my Ms sneak back up on me and I had moved up to secondary progressive MS from relapsing and remitting MS.
So go into tecfidera with an open mind and do not worry about the side effects before they occur. I understand you also need to look possibly for stomach upset. But it never cause my stomach to act any different. For many people this DMT works extremely well for the long course. It's simply didn't for me but again remember different people and different cases of MS reactive differently to DMT or in case you're not familiar with the abbreviation to Disease Modifying Therapies. Keep in touch and let us know how it goes for you on tecfidera.
Hello I've been on tecfidera for over 4 years now and the only problem I've had was stomach upset when i didn't eat enough. My doctor told me if I don't eat enough I could always eat something peanut butter. That seems to help out a lot too, when I'm not as hungry I would eat some peanut butter crackers or half peanut butter sandwich. Other than that I've had no problems. I've been doing very well with it. Fancy1959 is right, everyone is different and if its not for you they will change it. i wish you well with whatever works for you. Have a blessed day.

Hi I'm on Tysabri I hope things go well for u with the Tecfidera xxxx
I am doing really well with a little loose stool and occasional mild flushing. Take it with food. It really makes a difference and if your doctor agrees you can take a baby aspirin with it to prevent flushing,. Hope it works out for you!
I have been on it for about a year now and have had no problems. In the beginning I did have some slight flushing but I took low dose aspirin to help with that but I don't have that issue anymore. I just make sure to eat something before I take my dose so I don't get an upset stomach and that works for me.
Good luck. Keep us updated.

I have been on it for over 2 years. My only side effects were in the first month or so. I had a little nausea, and took some OTC nausea chewables, and also sipped 7up and it went away. The flushing is a little different from the normal hot flashes, as it is more on the skin a sort of tingling. But all that went away after the first month or so. I've had a good MRI with no activity, and only 1 relapse. It's a great way to treat this illness. Just take 2 pills daily. No shots or infusions! It works for me!
I was only on it for a short time as I ended up being very allergic to it and had to stop taking it. They only non allergy side effects I had were a bit of nausea and flushing. At my local support group a patient said his doctor told him to take his Tecfidera with a tablespoon of applesauce and he wouldn't have nausea. The applesauce worked every time!
Good luck!
