Gastroparisis and Multiple Sclerosis

I have both MS & gastroparisis. I can’t find a diet that coincides with both. Example: fiber for MS but no fiber for Gastroparisis.

Hi Gegraves1955 welcome to the family as Jazzihorsecat says!☺️ I unfortunately don't know anything about gastroparisis. So I can't help you there.😞

But I hope someone can. Just please make sure you check with your health care team before making any changes in your diet.

I truly hope that you find this a safe place to share, vent, and just be with others who understand. 🤗💕

Keto does not have to have fiber and is great for MS.

you need to go to a nutritionist they are the ones who can help you with your diet since you have so much going on. don't just take something.

Welcome to the group. For diet needs I suggest either a nutritionist or registered dietician.

I'm sure your doctor has already discussed diet with you, but this link is interesting. I'm sorry you have so much to contend with, but hope you can find a diet that works well for you. Has your doctor referred you to a dietician for help?

I have MS, gastroparesis & SIBO. Took years to get dx. Did not have projectile gastroparesis. After much anguish and no advice or bad advice from drs. Found nutritionist who knew what she was doing. They can set you up on elimination diet and add foods back. I went through SCD and FOD MAP diets and have a combo.

Also had hypothyroid issues which contribute to motility problems. 3 drs, endo. Neuro & GI. No collaboration or explanation. I think combo of all and complex. You can have fiber, but not beans and a few others.

Everyone different, many components.

Have fun and success on your journey.

ACK! I have collagenous colitis. And I thought that was bad! Yours sounds so much worse! I, too, have trouble figuring out what to eat. So you know what? I don't. Have lost 15 pounds so far. I'm living on bread-y things and water. Not nutritious, I know but for me that's better than diarrhea in my pants because I can't get to the bathroom quick enough.

Gegraves, I’ve had gastroparesis and I do a low residue diet. There’s a new fangled diet out there (don’t know if I should name it) but I gave in to try it at the behest of a man who was a true believer! It almost killed me. I didn’t need to lose weight, and I was so sick from both ends, I now see why they say “check with your doctor first” before you embark on a diet. Took me months to recover and get back to my regular diet and snarky self lol. Yikes!!😳

Hi Gegraves, 1955, What's your blood type? You're either A, AB, B or O negative or positive. Find out and try a simple elimination diet using the food for your blood type. Ask your nutritionist for help should you need it. All the best, Judy
