Last evening we had terrible storms come through lots of wind & rain & HAIL!! We have a metal roof on our garage it was so loud almost sounded like some one was throwing buckets of rocks. one storm after another that tropical depression Gordon. When our satellite was working we could was the storms on the weather channel. Lots of thunder & lighting couple of big ones hit the ground & lit the sky up. God was having His own fireworks show. We had part of a big tree fell in the back yard lots of smaller limbs all over the front & side yard other than that we had no damage. Hebron KY about 8 miles or so had 6 house different house fires from the lightening. According to the news there was not a lot of damage. Thank God!!

It can be magical watching a lightening storm. As children we used to get a lot of sheet lightening, that my dad always used to say that it was ripening the cereal crops. Well I haven’t seen that type of lightening for a few years, then this harvest we had a session of it, and it did ripen the crops. It’s amazing how much damage these tropical storms do, but as you say, thank God you are ok, Blessings Jimeka 🦋 🍫

When I was a kid my step dad always said the angels were practicing bowling & God threw the lightening bolts so they could see.

I haven't heard that one before. As a kid we were in church service when a lightening storm started outside. There was a large sudden thunder boom that shook the building. The preacher without missing a beat said "God's moving the furniture again and bumped into a wall." Everyone started laughing.

I heard a preacher tell that during a sever thunder storm once myself. Made everybody laugh too.

My mom would say that the angels were bowling and the lighting was when they got a strick.

kycmary Glad you came through unharmed! Those violent storms are frightening, especially to those who depend on satellite for TV, and live far from volunteer fire companies. When it's stormy, and trees are toppled, and the electricity fails, the only power that stays on is the power of prayer.

Oh yeah were about 6-8 miles out ourselves.

Those storms can really be powerful. Last year when Ivan came thru we lost power for 27 hrs and lost a lot of big trees which thank God weren’t close to our house. They’re still laying in the woods right where they fell.😇😇😇.

Glad y’all came out safely.

Donnie remember 'Ike' we lost power for 4 days, thank God we had a friend who had a portable generator & he called on the morning of the second day & showed up 2 hrs. later with it. Mary

My generator was broke down. I’d tried o buy one for a week before the storm but everybody was sold out.

First thin I did after the storm was to go buy a new one so I’d be prepared if it happens again.

I've been after my hubby to get one of our own but...

Well I use mine deer hunting also so it makes it easier to justify. I didn’t buy a big one just enough to power a few lights and our freezer so it wasn’t to expensive.

We had an EF0 tornado last Saturday and had a neighbor's tree come down into our yard, over our fence. Luckily the fence was okay. My brother in law and cousin got most of it cut down but our chainsaw wasn't big enough so our neighbor's boyfriend is hopefully going to bring his over this weekend to get the rest of the tree down. It has been raining about every day since then and temps have dropped into the 70s with no humidity!

Thankfully it all quieted down before dark then just a few rumbles thru the over night. Our cat is scared of storms & he climbed in th bed every time it rumbled.
