Changing the timing of your med intake.

When I went to the dr in Sept I was telling her how I would wake up stiff in the morning and I would have a hard time getting started in the morning but by the afternoon I was limber. I told her I took my meds at 5am. 1pm and 8pm.

She told my the meds at 8pm are out of my system by the time I wake up.

So being the person I am I decided to see what would happen if I stopped taking my meds at 8pm and took them at 12:30am.

Well to my surprise there was a real benefit from just changing the timing of my med intake.

My muscles were relaxed and I was moving a little faster because my meds were in my system.

My thought was my muscles are sleep they are relaxed already what 's the point of the evening meds.

The dr did give me the option to take my med tizanidine 4x's a day. She did give me a warning that I would have to watch my liver. I like my liver even though I have no real clue of what it really does.

I take Baclofen 20mg and 10mg 3x's a day and tizanidine 4mg and 2mg 3x's a day

I assume you have spasticity, rjoneslaw ? I don't have that (and am so thankful I don't), and I don't take the drugs you do, but I find what you shared interesting. I have gotten up to take extra aspirin at night, and that has helped me with arthritis pain. And my doc told me to take my azothiaprine at night instead of the morning to help with the nausea. I know some drugs MUST be taken certain ways, but I guess others don't.

As for your liver--you want that!! Your doc should be doing simple, periodic blood checks if she is concerned about the drugs affecting your liver. 💕

Being fond of my own liver, I think you’re wise to take care of yours.

I find that taking a higher dose of Baclofen at bedtime keeps me more mobile the next morning. Timing can be really important with many meds. I’m glad you’re finding a schedule that works for you and makes your liver happy, too.

Your meds are wearing off before u wake up...does taking the evening dose later cause you problems in the earlier evening? Sounds like your docs suggestion to take later worked...

rjoneslaw Glad changing the timing of your meds helps you with your spacticity! I take 20mg of Baclofen 3-4 times day depending on how bad my spams are. I take 1mg (half a pill) of tizanidine in the morning and 2mg of tizanidine at night. I found that taking a whole pill during the day would make me sleep all day. With the colder weather setting in, my spacticity is getting worse so on more days I take the Baclofen 4 times day. It also helps with the pain I have been experiencing in my right leg that I have to a neurosurgeon for next month.
