Topamax

Does anyone else have any experience with Topamax? I was given that after they stopped the Tysabri in the hopes that it would help with headaches. I went from not being able to sleep to not being able to stay awake. Long story short, I’m already off of that med too. Maybe it’s time to just focus on diet and exercise and revisit meds in 6 months or so when my system has had a little time to reset. Wow. Sick and tired of being sick and tired. Here’s the photo of Alan the marmot that I couldn’t add to my previous post about hiking.

Seems like Alan is concerned about your well being as is I. I too, suffer with headaches. A couple of years ago, I was prescribed Gabapentin. It seems to be good for me. I hope that you find relief for your headaches and you are smart about the approach that you are taking.

Be good to yourself,

Carole :-D

I’m on about 400mg a day of gabapentin. I have a few 100mg capsules that I can take PRN. I try not to take more than 600mg/day because even that makes me a zombie. I used to be on 1600mg/day and was expected to be a functioning part of society. Um...no. Boils down to this: I hate meds. Most of them aren’t worth the hassle especially when the side effects outweigh the efficacy. People may feel it’s “woo” but for me diet and exercise have always been my jam. It’s the dang stress that creeps in every once in a while. Thankfully I’ve learned over the last few years how to set boundaries and still care for others while putting myself first.

*if you haven’t seen the BBC talking animals, you should look it up straight away. Hilarious. And then you’ll see where Alan comes from. Ha!

I take gabapentin, 300mg, twice a day. Once in the morning, and one at bedtime. I too, hate taking meds. I haven’t see the talking animals on BBC. I will look for Alan at your suggestion. In the meantime,

Keep Smiling,

Carole. :-D

I just dumped a full bottle of 600mg pills of Gabapentin. They were leftovers from when I was taking 3600 mgs a day.

I just found another full bottle. I should've thrown them away 3 yrs ago? When I switched to Horizant.

I take Topamax for migraines and that helps. I also take Gabapentin for leg spasms. Both help and don’t seem to make me tired. Sorry that doesn’t seem to be the case for you

Gessika I was dx with Essential Tremor a few years before I was dx with MS. I tried several meds. including topamax to ease the tremor. None of the meds really eased the tremor, but topamax is the only one that made me sick. I felt like I had a UTI except for no painful urination. I had lower back and pelvis pain. I felt like I had the chills, and I ached all over. I could not wait to titrate off that med!

That sounds awful. I was just painfully tired all of the time. Probably still had some Tysabri in my system. It’s all jacked me up and given me a little bit of PTSD.
