Applying for SSI

I am applying for SSI The employment section I am having and issue, I can't recall when I worked for a certain employer.

I completely blocked this employer from my memory and I never referred to this employer in my work history when I applied to future jobs.

I worked a month or two if that.

I did explain to the intake person the reason I left and don't recall the dates. I was told I worked there 2005.

I can't contact this employer because she has been disbarred.

Reason for leaving:

If she gave me a check I had to immediately walk across the street to her bank to cash the check before she took the money.;

She would always find a reason to stand behind me.;

Lastly, I pack up and left when she lied to a client and felt the need to blame me for her screw up. Then to make things worst she made sure to be a specific as possible to tell the client date and time I screwed up. It all backfired on her. I was out of town during the date and times she gave the client and the client knew it.

I have to say I got great joy leaving there. I packed up during the week she left for vacation, I didn't let her anything. I never looked back. She called several times asking me to come back.

rjoneslaw I would just put a guesstimate of the dates that you worked there as it was only a short time. I think SS already knows the dates that you worked there, think they just like to ask to double check.

rjoneslaw I agree that a best guess should suffice. A way you might find the dates more easily is looking at your tax returns. Having a W2 might help. You also might get the dates from the Social Security website. I know you can look at earnings there and not sure if employer info is also included. Good luck with your claim. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

rjoneslaw , sounds like my old law partner! I agree with everyone else--when I applied for SSDI, I couldn't recall a lot of things. Assuming that she took out for your SS and FICA, they will have a record. And for a job that lasted only a few months, your memory shouldn't be expected to be exact, especially if you've worked a lot of places. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM RETIRED AND NO LONGER ELIGIBLE TO PRACTICE LAW IN ANY STATE, SO THIS IS NOT TO BE CONSIDERED AS LEGAL ADVICE. IF YOU FEEL YOU NEED LEGAL ADVICE, PLEASE CONTACT A LICENSED LAWYER IN YOUR STATE.

@Sukie427

Thanks. I have worked a lot places. I wasn't sure how exact I had to be. As you may recall when you had to do your bar application of you applied to another state bar you had to have to everything and if you didn't you had better find out before your application was approved.
