I'm not sure what to think at the moment. I was really hoping to vent here and see if anyone can share their experience with anything similar. I guess the coming and going of symptoms is what completely throws me through a loop.
This past Thursday I woke up... my hand was numb. Never woke up. Within hours it was very weak then the electric current started and at times became a little painful. It was almost like having a severe cramp that lasted just a second and then released. My ring and pinky finger would twitch randomly... my grip was poor. I went to sleep with my hand numb Thursday night and Friday morning... it was back to normal. It did respond with a delay. It wasn't as quick as my left hand. Come Saturday... the electric shocks down the hand and to the tip of the ring finger and pinky cake back. Hand slowly became weak. However it was not as numb as Thursday. And then there is today... woke up to no shocks. By 3 pm.... they made the appearance again. Some quite harsh. It is more uncomfortable for the brief seconds than actually a pain.
I am a little taken back by the lack of consistency. Which in my head I'm thinking... I push through this daily. I keep going no matter what bump appears in my road.... but the oddness to this simple is tearing my nerves up. With it lasting more than one day... should I be concerned? Is this just MS and part of the daily mind battle over what is happening to me?
I would appreciate any feedback.
Side note: Thursday I was not in the heat. Friday it was minimal. Saturday I was in the heat but I wore my cooling vest. Sunday I've been in the air all day. SC has been quite hot so my cooling vest has been close.

juli_SC , I'm sorry about these new symptoms. I guess in general it's good to report new symptoms to our neurologists, but I have no advice to offer. But I do hope these very uncomfortable symptoms go away very soon.
I sometimes am woken up by my right hand 🤚 with the middle finger feeling as big as 3 fingers, so numb and in my mind it is swollen, but it's not physically. The pain is sharp, and I have to wait for it to go away, I don't know if shaking helps but I do that to see if I can get the circulation to it. Next day the middle finger feels dead but then it slowly returns. Hope this helps in some small way, blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈
Thank you. This is such an odd thing for me.... I'm hoping this goes away completely soon. If not I will report to my neurologist. I've always been an oddball... I guess my new weird hand sensation is just a little more character. Lol 😉
Let us know how you go on and what your neurologist has to say, blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈
I having varying numbness in my hands with the left being worse. I've just gotten used to it. No meds helped. I also have left foot numbness only when I sit or stand in one place for more than 15 minutes. I had to quit work because the numbness was too painful & I adjust my activities as needed . I hope things get better for you. Good Luck.
I think it is really weird sensation, because to have numbness that is painful, you would think that you wouldn't be able to feel the pain with it being so numb, but there is no other way to describe it. 🦋 🌈
It is very peculiar . The days I have no swelling the numbness is mild , I'm happy for the slight improvement. It makes my day
Just last week I was telling myself: some days I feel invincible and some days I feel impaired. Sometimes I can't identify the cause for the "MS" days but I'm grateful for the days I still feel like superwoman 🏄
Someone recently wrote about this as a toggle on/off switch. That's very true for me.
I am constantly doing and not letting anything slow me down. However when my hand stops working it leaves me no choice but to slow down. Normally I try to stay positive and laugh it off and tell whoever is around... I'll get to it... my hand is just being a rebel. Lol. Got to find the positive in all things. ☺️☺️☺️
Hi juli_SC I hope it goes away soon for you!💕 But definitely call your pcp or Neuro about it. Could be something as simple as a pinched nerve to something else. 😕 Not good to wait to long! Let us know ok?😁
Hi juli_SC I'm sorry to hear that you're going through these things and so randomly. What you're mentioning sounds similar to the symptoms that I had but mine were milder. I did some research as well as spoke to my neurologist when I obtained one and found out about L 'Hermitte. People with MS tend to suffer L'Hermitte's symptoms which is the numbing and electric currents that you feel. I don't know if this is the case for you but I thought I'd share with you as this could be a talking point between yourself and your neurologist in beginning to find out what's going on with you. For me, I was admitted into the hospital for 3 days for a Solu-Medrol infusion. I pray that you find the answers that you need for this!
My right hand and arm are like that as well as my lower right leg and foot. Numb but painful. I also have right foot drop but that came with a later relapse.
For me,every relapse seems to leave lingering deficits. Never as severe as when the relapse occurred though. For many years prior to diagnosis I would have episodes but they always cleared up without permanent problems.
