Polar Vest from MSAA

MSAA_welcome I am not sure if this will go to the right person, but I know someone on this site belongs to MSAA. I hope he gets this message. I requested AND RECEIVED my cotton adjustable Polar cooling vest and neck scarf, and polar freezer packs to fit in the velcro pockets. NOW, I can turn up the AC from 70 to 75 and will save us a LOT of money in this record high temp summer. I want to tell the world what a wonderful invention the vest is. About 5 years ago, I received the wraps for ankles, wrists, waist, and neck, and used them everytime I would walk in the summertime. Usually, though, it was just too much energy requirement to put them all on my body. NOW, I load up the vest with the freezer packs, and stop sweating immediately. What is a BIG bonus is the pockets in the back of the vest. I put it on, filled with the packs, and leaned back against the couch. All that cold forced against my back completely killed my back shoulder blade muscle pain on right side. Sometimes, that pain is so bad it hurts to use my right arm to pick up a cup of coffee with one hand. But, the cooling vest does away with it for the evening. I cannot thank the MSAA society enough for sending me the vest and other supplies, since my budget did not allow me to buy one. I hope this message gets to the MSAA society to show my thanks. I did post a thank you on the MSAA site on FB, and the PolarProducts site. Hey, maybe I should try sleeping in it!!

If you can sew you can make one. Before I knew about MSAA I had taken an old denim shirt & cut the sleeves off. I took the fabric from the sleeves & made pockets on the front & back the size of the ice packs you can buy that are used for coolers/ice chests. If needed you can add a couple of velcro strips on the side to hold the shirt a little tighter to your body.

I could mail you the one I attempted to make from a pattern I ordered. It’s not the prettiest thing in the world but it works. I will attempt to get it in the mail to you as soon as I have the energy. ❤️❤️

Thank you. Our temperatures are back to normal now around 70* it was a freak time of 3 days where it hit 90* which is far too hot.

You can double bag ice in ziplock bags, wrap a towel around it; and sit in a chair with it in the middle of your back for now.

I am so glad that it is helping you! They sent me one a couple of years ago. Now, it is way too big on me, and even when it did fit, when I filled it with the cooling packs it was so heavy I couldn't stand up or walk in it! Sleeping in it sounds like a great plan!❤️

Fabulous!! I'm glad it's working so well for you 🎉 I just want to add that some insurance will reimburse patients if they have a MD order, because it is a medical device. I've got mine packed for vacation! 🎉

johnMSAA The brochure that came with vest asked me to mail back a form stating how I liked it (I did that), and asked me to post my experience on their FB site, so I did that, also. So very thankful to have it. I still have the one I made from a pattern several years ago, but it is not as durable as the Polar one. If anyone needs the one I made out of white cotton, I will be glad to mail it to anyone in need. It doesn't fit me as well as the Polar one; it needs to be worn on the outside of clothes. The Polar vest I can wear under a blouse. Thanks, again!

thanks for sharing with us. does it leak?

Blanket time- no. It must have waterproof sprayed on it. The ice packs became warm after about 2 hours, but the vest never got damp. I took it off and put it in bag and put it back in freezer. The one I made does get a little damp inside but I used a waterproof material for the pockets. It’s a good backup. It is now 72 in house and I am now sweating - so gonna go put my vest on!!
