Hi everyone! I've been having to use my limited visual powers to do things this week that were much less fun than this chat room. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch up.

Here's a pic of this cute little woodpecker that visits everyday.

What a beautiful bird. Doesn't life seem to slow down when we grab the opportunity and take the time to enjoy these creatures?

Thanks for the pic Iona60 . Missed you! ๐Ÿ’ž

Yes, a slow life with a camera is wonderful, but often frustrating to get a good pic. I miss so many more than I get.

It's a female, yahoo! My husband and I saw a male and female on our suit feeder a couple of days ago. I love watching birds!

Thank you for the picture!

How do you know it's a female?

The male has a red patch on the back of its head.

Ok. Makes sense now. I was wondering why this woodpecker didn't have a red patch. I've seen the male in the yard also.

I'm getting hives again. I had them about a month ago. I'm beginning to think they are stress related.

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with hives. Take a deep breath and try to de-stress..

Wish I could. I'm in the midst of selling my business and the stress never ends. Can't wait until it is all behind me.

How fun! Our feeder is too far from my house to take pictures easily. And I'm slow. Flowers are easier to shoot.

StacyHayward Just enjoy them! I love flowers too!

Love your wildlife photos! I love woodpeckers! I've only seen the male ones as well, would like to catch the female(s) too.

How exciting I saw one Eastern Bluebird here in the backyard for the first time! Where I used to live my backyard was the Bluebirds migration path.

Wish I had a camera to take pictures of all I've seen here. Especially today to catch the Bluebird, Woodpecker(s) and surprisingly the fox I saw running between houses (that used to be my uncles farming field).

You take some really awesome pictures! Thank you so much for sharing them!

Thank you Jenny. Feb and March are good birding months for my backyard. Sometimes I can get a good shot through the window. I think I was sitting nearby when I took this one.

I wish we got pretty birds, we get blue jays chasing away the hummingbirds and mockingbirds making too much noise before the jays chase them away. We have 3 hummingbird feeders and a group of 4 hummers that stay pretty much year around. They are almost impossible to photograph.

Iona60 profile image

I haven't even tried to photograph the humming birds. It's hard enought to even get a glimpse of them until they are off to the next flower at my house.

Iona60 and CalfeeChick l love watching the hummingbirds. When l 1st moved here, we didn't have any. Took about 2 1/2 yrs of keeping fresh sugar water out before l started to see l. Now l see about 5-6. ๐Ÿฆ This yr I'm not sure what's going to happen, since the trees are gone.

Now thatโ€™s the size of woodpeckers Iโ€™m used to seeing! The photo I posted today was like a mutation of a woodpecker of jumangi park or something. It was as big as that entire feeder! Did you see my post of the photo? Weirdest bird I ever saw, if it was a woodpecker!
