More research on the gut microbiome and MS, which relates directly to diet, a favorite topic of mine.

Very interesting article. I used to suffer really bad with IBS but then I had a hysterectomy and it went away so I wouldn't be a good person to experiment on. Thanks 🦋 🌈

This topic is very interesting to me so thanks for this link! I'm looking forward to seeing more research related to the gut microbiome and its relationship to MS. I was sick a lot as a child and had more than my fair share of penicillin. I've always wondered if there was a link between all the penicillin, all my illnesses as a child and having M.S.

I've always wondered if there might be a link between all the surgeries I've had with General anesthetic. 10-12 surgeries.

I read article and links. I ate yogurt everyday until about 18 months ago as I became more lactose intolerant. Now in my first year of MS, I drink a little Yakult daily, then drink a liquid yogurt. I drink almond milk in coffee and cereal, etc. I also drink a fiber supplement which keeps me "going." I have read the Wahl's Protocol book and use many of its suggestions. I feel bloated, uncomfortable, and the right side of my gut is uncomfortable, on the edge of painful after every meal. I've cut my meal size in half & still uncomfortable.😕 Any suggestions would be appreciated😊

Hi @CalfeeChick, if you've read the Wahls Protocol you already know everything that I might suggest. I've tried a few diets and studied the subject a bit. I find Wahls' recommendations and her arguments pretty sound but certainly not easy to follow. And what works for one person might not work for another. I myself haven't seen the dramatic results that she predicts but I think I have slowed down my progression slightly, and I do not follow the diet to the letter either.

Probably the most basic thing I would suggest would be to give up gluten & dairy completely, at least for a while, and see if you see any difference. I know that if I have any gluten I feel quite bloated. Sometimes I can't resist a regular beer (Gluten free beer is hard to find & not that good anyway).

Thanks, guess it's good I don't drink beer 🍻😋 I have reduced most gluten, but still have wheat bread occasionally.

I found that when I totally gave up dairy my bloating, indigestion, and gas went away.

Hi Bill, have you tried Kombucha? I have a little each day. My neuro recommended it.

I have heard about it but not tried it yet. I think I will do that. Thanks
