A migraine is not just a headache and MS affects more than just nerves!
Dealing with both disorders at the same time can at times feel impossible to manage! I've been working on improving my "lifestyle habits" to keep my body strong and help build resilience. I've done a lot of research on the link between migraine and MS and learned there are studies that prove a connection and that there has been a clinical overlap noted since 1952! How come this isn't explained during neuro appointments?
If you're interested in more on the subject, you can find a link to my blog in my bio.
Meanwhile, I'd love to know what strategies you use to help symptoms or make life easier with Migraine and/or MS?

So many people on the MS pages on FB and in MS forums report headache and migraine so I started looking at the connection. It does make sense especially when you learn they are related to nervous system issues.
it's funny (and sad) how often we patients figure out something on our own. on another page for dystonia, i learned how to get out of stuck positions. i'd mentioned getting stuck (dystonia primarily affects my neck and it always wants to turn right) to my drs... and nothing. it's important to share!π€
We had a program here in the U.K. on migraines which was really interesting. They have one girl swimming in really cold water for 10-15 minutes 3/4 times per week, and her migraines were actually improving. Also they showed a device that you stuck on your forehead which sent electrical impulses into your brain which in turn helped you relax and fall asleep. Another person was injecting themselves with a chemical that supposedly reacts with the brain. It apparently worked well on 20% of the people they had tested. Anyhow like I said, it was interesting. π€
That is interesting! I've heard of the device for the head but haven't tried it. I'd love to read more about the cold water treatment. Going to look that up. I use icepacks a lot and that helps so really like this ideaπ
wow so do agree ...ask the doctor more about it ...in the beginning they tried saying that i was having migraines in the beginning for all of the head aches i was having ,this was a regular doctor ...so yes i agree it is probably part of the process of this journey...love and happiness..
