I had the opportunity to hand feed a chick to a retired education barn owl and I gave a fish to an osprey who was < a foot away. The osprey was very vocal about the fish. So I told him "you're welcome" as I exited his flight cage. I feel like a little kid in awe when I'm at the birds of prey center.
Although was worried. My legs were a bit more wobbly yesterday π
Photo is of a barn owl.

Erash, you seem to have struck gold with this volunteering opportunity - I can tell how much you are enjoying it : ) Are you taking your cane with you to 'work' ? Are you finding that the leg wobbliness is due to you being on your legs more at your workplace ? x
angelite wobbly legs on sand, gravel and over roots of trees (the terrain of the center) on a rather warm afternoon while following behind a 20+ yr. old who was showing me the ropes. Unfortunately, I'm enjoying it too much to give in and admit that it may not be an ideal activity π¬
We have lots of barn owls fly around near us. We always associate them with being night birds, but they can often be seen flying low looking for mice in the ploughing during the day. Gorgeous creatures. Enjoy, keep riding Freedom as much as you can, I found that it really helped the balance, blessings Jimeka
What a beautiful bird erash and l had to look up what an osprey looked liked. π They have really cool faces!
Please be careful! They have things like the "quadpod" for the bottom of your cane. To give it a bit more, but not alot of stability. And it will stand on its own. βΊπ
I like how it stands alone!! And less moving parts like the hurrycane. I get one of practical when l buy things. π Cost against, wear and tear. Just cause it looks cool, is it going to hold up in the snow salt we have here?π
Did you take this picture? If not, did the one you fed look just like this? He is beautiful. Must have also been so fun with the osprey. We get them dive bombing for fish in our lake. So fun to watch.
erash thank you for sharing...how wonderful...when I first got to Idaho I saw a snow owl..majestic...yet simple...I miss my birds back east...Cardinals.....
