I thought I've had every symptom in my fight with my immune system, until I stepped lifted my leg to step down off the curb. I take medicine for spasticity. But my leg spasm as I stepped down. And I went face first on the pavement. That was the third time in 3 week I found myself in the ER.

Oh my goodness. How are you? I hope that you haven't broken anything or done anymore lasting damage. What some people don't understand is that you are telling your brain to do something, but the message doesn't get there in time and bang, ouch!!! My husbands favourite saying to me, is steady, be careful, but you can be as steady and careful as you want, but if you don't know when it's going to happen, you can't do anything about it. Such is life with ms. I hope and pray that now we have all been made aware of this device Bioness that we can all afford it and it will make life much more of a blessing, being able to walk with out tripping. God bless, and as the world says take care! Jimeka
Bummer! Sorry to hear that! Do you use a cane/walking stick? I have a friend who used to use one all the time just to give her the stability when she needed it. She used a walking stick mostly, which meant she didn't look out of place at all in AZ! (Lots of hikers with walking sticks there. Not that it matters - you've gotta do what you've gotta do to make it, right?)
Have you tried different meds for spasticity? Would physical therapy help at all? What advice does your neurologist have?
I hope you can heal fast. Take care and be good to yourself. Let us know what's happening!
Anne
Hi Tdunn21 that had to have hurt lm so sorry! Hopefully you didn't get hurt to badly. I remember when my leg was having sever spasms, it was so bad l couldn't wear tennis shoes or even use a cane. Put my happy butt in a chair and that was about it.
I hope your other 2 times weren't to serious either. Can't imagine how you feel. I hate hospitals.
Welcome to our chat btw, chime in anytime
Tdunn21, this is Fancy1959 welcoming you to this amazing chat room and into the family it has created! I can truly emphasize with your quick face first trip to the ground. On Monday, I fell again, face first onto blacktop giving myself my 7th concussion. It seems my MS has shrunk my cerebellum and that is responsible for my terrible balance All we can do is to make sure we keep our safety equipment with us at all time, such as a walker or at the very least a solid cane, and of course our cell phone. Each time we fall we run the risk of increasing our disability. So, it is up to us to protect ourselves at all times. Take it easy and make sure you get as much rest as you can for the next few days. I want to invite you to become an MS Warrior with us. As such know we never give up and we never give in we just simply keep getting up and refusing to let this Beast beat us. Together we can accomplish more. I'm glad you brought your concern to this chat room. It will be my guess that balance and spasticity issues are a lot more common than you realize. So welcome to the family Tdunn21. We are always just a post away if you need us. Take care and keep in touch.
Ouch! I hope you're not seriously injured, @Tdunn21. It's frustrating when one tries to accommodate all their body's shortcomings, and a new one joins the mix at an inopportune time. Take care.
Please use some device to aid your walking. I had fallen several times. My neurologist ordered me to use a cane, especially when carrying something. My wife nags me to use it even in the house. The PT taught me the proper way to use the cane and how to get up and down curbs and stairs. I have not fallen in over a year. I am very careful with my walking.
Tdunn21 I'm sorry to hear about your fall, hope you are okay and didn't break/fracture anything. Maybe a walking device is needed so that these falls don't keep happening?
Stay safe, and hopefully no more falls,
Jessie
