The skin in my gluteal cleft( right at top of bum crack) keeps splitting, off and on for the last 18 months and it's very painful. The reason I'm concerned is because for 4 months now I've had pain in my tailbone area which is very tender to touch and despite having attended the osteopath for 4 sessions, it has not resolved and having spoken to my GP surgery today they are sending me for an x-ray but no other treatment is being done. I don't know if the 2 problems are related or not as I've had a bad back for nearly 40 years, but as usual I've googled coccyx pain and now am worried it might be something more sinister.
Any advice or words of wisdom would be most appreciated.

Thanks for that, I'm pretty sure my back problems stem from having a slipped disc back in 1983, they eventually operated and removed the disc and now my spine is able to move about more, hence pain caused by spinal vertebrae moving out of position and pressing on various nerves. I think I may just have to live with it but my osteopath has done a lot to help me over the years but it is an expensive way to sort the problem but necessary if pain gets too severe.
Have been using a thin layer of Sudocrem 2-3 times a day and it has taken about 10 days but seems to have healed now(fingers crossed). Hope it stays that way.
