From birth I have suffered badly with red patches that hurt and then itch the next day. I only found out by accident what I suffer with by seeing a leaflet in the doctors surgery. I’m 64 and through out my life seen many doctors etc and have never got to the root of the problem. My new doctor is far more sympathetic and is trying different antihistamines to see if there’s any help. Today I can’t walk as I have them on the soles of my feet and they are so painful. It’s like walking on open sores even though my skin is intact.
Does anyone have the same thing, heat and pressure chronic urticaria?
If I sit in the sun bare chested it’s no problem but if I put a dark shirt on the material heats up and burns my skin. I really can’t describe the pain I’m in on a daily basis. Help!!!!

Glad that your new GP is treating your symptoms more seriously than in the past . Have you looked for information on the condition and what you can do to help ?
Like I said I didn’t know what I was suffering with until recently. My elder sister (72) also has the same complaint. I mentioned it to my doctor who put me on basic antihistamines but they didn’t work, the on another one fexofanadine which made no difference. I’m seeing him this week to discuss seeing a specialist which he agreed to when he gave me the last antihistamine. Meanwhile I phoned the allergy helpline, 01322 619898, and the doctor I spoke to said it’s a difficult one to treat as antihistamines only work on 40% of patients and she recommended seeing a specialist. Friday night/Saturday morning I had them on the soles of my feet and I couldn’t walk or even stand up. They have got worse on my feet since I damaged the one foot which now has friebergs disease and I broke the other leg at the same time.
Both my sister and me have learnt by mistakes. Baths are a no no, I used to be only be able to have a cool bath just above body temperature, a degree higher and we were covered everywhere that was in the water. It actually sends my body into shock. I can’t wear dark clothing on sunny day as the material heats up and burns the skin, when I drive the car on sunny days I have to have a thick towel on my lap otherwise my legs are painful for days. I used to work down an engine room on a steam warship. If I leaned on anything warm while working I got it.
I went scuba diving in the West Indies while away on the ship. The sun got me under the water and I could barely move for days, I went into shock again.
I can’t lie on my back in bed as I get it on the heals of my feet through the pressure of the weight on the bed. I sleep in the recovery position making sure my legs aren’t touching each other as the pressure of one leg on the other causes it to happen. I feel sorry for my wife of 43 years as I’m always moving about in bed.
