Why does my skin go as shown in this picture when I scratch? Note it’s not always when I scratch. This is how it is at the moment on my leg. Also got it on my chest.

Looks a bit like an allergic reaction to something

maybe in your washing powder or shower stuff?

Look up dermatographism. It looks like something that’s called graffiti hives. My daughter has had this for close to a year. She gets lines and circular bumps as well. Give a browser search. We think my daughter’s was triggered by a cold (virus) last spring; but it could have been anything. After it started; she would get hives from almost anything touching her skin in a poking or scratching way. She would get horrible hives from swimming pools. It felt like if the wind blew, she got hives. Two different docs tested her and could find no allergy. One doc handed me a Rx for prednisone. : o No way! The other said to take Claritin or Benedryl or really any of the over counter antihistamines. A third doc said she’s allergic to mold. So who knows??? She still gets it but not nearly as bad. I give her a few different supplements prescribed by the third doc and it has helped. We’ve been told by all three docs it can last for a long time and randomly just stop or just last for a few weeks. I hope this gives you some insight.

I agree with Klauri. I agree with the mold allergy. If it's not only dermatographism then it could be mastocytosis, but that's the less likely of the two and most problematic.

Hi

have you had your thyroid checked, as before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism I would itch and the lines would appear. It settled once I was treated for the hypo, but a couple of years ago it started up again and I started to get hives (you look though you have a couple in the photo)

My hives mainly come when out in the cold (cold urticaria)

Hives can be associated with hashimoto's (autoimmune hypothyroidism)

I went to see an Immunologist and he did lots of tests. He scratch my arm with the blunt end of a pen and the red lines appear, he said it was dermatographism.

The hives he said are from the cold temperature making my histamine levels rise and bring out the hives.

I did get them bad when in the house once but I had a virus and the Immunologist said a virus or infection can cause them, some people even get pressure hives. He said they can last for a while then suddenly go away on their own.

If it persist I would ask to see an Immunologist.
