Irritated scrotum

Hi people, for the last several months I have been experiencing an itchy scrotum which is also red. Sometimes there are small spots on my scrotum and they can be very irritating and itchy. I also get a rash in my groin area which is stubborn to steroid creams and seems to flare up randomly. I have used sudacrem cream which helps for a day or 2. The itching is really getting to me and the steroid creams and sudacrem cream don't work.

Please can anyone help?

Many thanks for reading this guys.

Hello,

My son had this and it drove him crazy, so we tried diluted Apple Cider Vinegar. Make sure you get a Raw, Organic and With The Mother one like Biona or Bragg and dilute it with a little water.

I think he used it twice per day. It might sting a little but my son's was gone in a week.

And if you need a good moisturiser Aveeno is really good.

I hope it works for you too.

Good luck and let me know.

There is some stuff from Oz called paw paw. Apparently supposed to be amazing.not expensive. Worth a try.

If it flares up occasionally, could it be a different washing powder, tight jeans, change of soap, try to work out what it is. You can also get lanacane cream or powder, both stop the itching and bring comfort. Try ,try, try not to scratch ,makes it worse. Good luck ,must be driving you mad. If your circumstances allow you to be unclothed round that area ,try that also, as often as possible,.just simple soap, warm, not hot water, rinse well.

Hi olive,

I have ordered the paw paw cream you recommended and the reviews sound great. I hope it works aswell as it sounds. I do not really where tight clothing around the area and I have even started wearing shirts as opposed to boxers to unable everything to hang loose! I use perscribed bath and shower wash and my detergent has been the same for years. Nothing has changed. I'll continue with my routine and hope the paw paw cream will have the desired results. Many thanks fir your suggestions.

For itching, I use aqueous cream. You can get it in 500 gram tubs for about £3 from most supermarkets and pharmacies.

I use it to clean the affected skin in the shower instead of shower gel and then wash it off. When I get out of the shower I put it on the skin again and leave it there all day.

Give it a try, the itching was driving insane before I discovered this cream. It was the best advice a doctor ever gave me.

You may also have something like jock itch or folliculitis though so do take photos when it's at its worst and seek medical advice if it doesn't get better.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your response. I will try the aqueous cream and see if this does the trick. I have previouslyused sudacrem cream but it just kept coming back. I use perscribed shower and bath wash and this does not irritate my skin. I even wear shorts instead of boxers so the area is not too hot and everything can hang loose. It could possibly be folliculitis or jock itch but I don't k iw how I would have got this. Some area around public area do looked scarred and bald!

Good luck. Just also be very careful with steroid creams, they can damage the skin permanently if overused.

If all else fails, ask a doctor. I had to work up the courage to show a doctor but the guy told me exactly what was going on, so it's worth getting an opinion.

As I said previously, take plenty of photos. You may find the rash goes away and you are just left with itching. It will be a lot harder to get a diagnosis without being able to show doctors the photos of the rash.
