Is this real?

I've had obsessions with friends and people around me for a long time and one of them confessed to me and I told them I liked them too. This feels real but now I'm questioning every other obsession I've had. We're they real too? I don't know what to think

If I understand correctly, you discovered that an obsession you had was based in reality, and now you're wondering whether the rest of your obsessions are the same? Is that right?

Yes... I'm just not sure now...

The problem with obsessions is that one can't be absolutely sure of anything. It's possible the worst-case scenario may occur as it's also possible for the best-case scenario to occur. Ruminating about the possibilities of harm at the expense of normal living usually brings short-lived relief, but makes matters worse in the long run. When exposed to triggering circumstances, it's difficult to be open to the possibility that obsessively dwelling on the worst-case scenario may make matters worse in the long run. It takes time and quietness to be open to that possibility, but if you are, the temptation to ruminate will generally lessen.

Hi. Have you been diagnosed with ocd?

I've had obsessions in the past and experienced compulsions (contamination, obsessions about people, etc). I haven't gotten an official diagnosis yet though
