Desperately need treatment for PTSD which is entwined with OCD and sensory issues as an autistic person. Exposure therapy has not worked.

In addition physical healtg issues make treatment more complicated. Desperately need a place to go that will address both physical and mental health needs.

HELP PLEASE!!!

(In WI and medicaid is insurance)

All I can suggest is what maybe I am doing, as I have similar. I am doing TMS, and trying the Stellate ganglion block shot, and I have also tried EMDR, and benzodiazepines. I have very little energy right now, and I know some of this can possibly make people worse or cause other symptoms, but I know how desperate you are for relief and I am too. I wish we didn’t have to resort to all this to “fix” ourselves. I also know mindfulness, prayer, positive passages in the Bible and Buddhist philosophy and being in nature help.

Although exposure therapy is hard work, it is effective. But it really is hard work, and it can be too much for some people.

Perhaps give inositol a try - it's a natural substance, it's safe and relatively free from side effects. Large doses are needed for OCD - 18 g a day (that's grams, not milligrams!) and it can be bought over the counter at some health food stores or drug stores, as well as on the internet (make sure you use a reputable supplier). It isn't generally prescribed by doctors, but studies indicate that it can be particularly effective in hard-to-treat OCD.

PTSD can respond to EMDR - perhaps ask about that. Having a quiet place to go - a park, perhaps - could help. I notice the reference to dogs in your user name - dogs really do help and are great therapists!

Thank you! I'm now researching inositol. I had not heard of that before. And, yes, dogs are fantastic therapists!

You may find the OCD and Autism Resource Center helpful. Go to iocdf.org and click on Learn About OCD. Then click on OCD and Autism which will open up the OCD and Autism Resource Center. Some OCD specialists are also qualified to treat PTSD but sometimes a person needs to see a different provider for each one and the two providers can be in consultation with each other.
