I'm new. I have OCD and no one in my life knows that. I hope I can feel supported here
Hi all: I'm new. I have OCD and no one in... - My OCD Community
Hi all
Welcome!
Welcome Myjourneynow! Feel free to say whatever you want to. We will support you!
Welcome to the group!
I've had OCD all my life, as early as I have conscious memories of myself. Struggled with loads of different topics, went through highs and lows with this disorder. Now I'm 35. Last few years had been a blessing, since I finally reached out for help, got ERP treatment, found some other remedies and tools to deal with OCD part of my brain.. Happy to heal. And happy to share. If you want to chat, feel free to pm.
You are ALWAYS supported here. I have been dealing with this as a diagnosis for 6 years now, but have had OCD since I can remember way back when I was a kid (now 30 years old) Its work, and there are times that are tough, but there is always relief eventually and period of time where it can be a lot quieter. Stay strong and always let us know if there is anything you need or on your mind. Its really nice to connect with people on here and hear that so many others deal with almost exactly similar tendencies!
Welcome Myjourneynow,
I have been dealing with OCD for about 55 years and fully understand how it makes one feel different. Doubt with accompanying anxiety ruled my life for sometime. I had adopted such mechanisms as holding my breath while checking on something that was valuable to me (as a hobby). As a kid, I needed my parents to assure me that it was 'perfect'. They didn't have a label for it in those days. Later on, I had bouts of depression & have used many different medications even up to this day. Fortunately I figured out how to use this perfectionism in some positive ways & have been extremely successful in Information Technology. The Covid outbreak has exacerbated the OCD in the cleaning aspect.
