OCD symptoms
Hi ktmullane136.
I'm sorry to hear about your accident. To start, if you don't have a Dr or therapist you can talk to about your OCD, it is very important that you get one. The sooner you get help for OCD, the better. You will be able to learn how to use skills to help deal with the symptoms.
I'm thinking you've just recently been diagnosed based on your post, so I will offer this advice. Try to find a therapist who specializes in OCD, one who does CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or ERP which is comparable to CBT, but better. Both are behavioral therapies that help you learn techniques to keep your symptoms manageable.
You might also need meds to work alongside the therapy, but that's okay; a Dr, preferably a psychiatrist who can prescribe medication, will guide you in the right direction.
It is good that you found this Community, because you will find that it is a great way for others to find help and feel better.
Good luck!
Nurse here. I would notify your neurologist of your symptoms. Try to get your team working together (doctors, therapist). That's not always easy to do. Ideally, there's one person who's leading your team, usually your primary care provider. Tell that person that you'd like a team meeting, so everyone's working together.
