Hi Everyone! My name is Linda and I am new to this online community. I have found a wonderful freedom from OCD in my life. For those suffering, there is HOPE. I was blessed by the help professionally, and gone on to get my Coaching certificate and other course certificates of online learning. It’s so wonderful when we can make great ‘strides ahead’ of freedom and are able to be there for others. We all need each other...we all have our weak moments, I do too-I’m perfectly Imperfect😊

I will be glad to share the types of OCD that I’ve had to work through and still have to hold my peace at times. I understand the torture of OCD and how it kills self esteem etc. A mental battle.

I am a mother of an 18 year old (diagnosed at 14) with OCD. Life has been quite difficult for my child and family. This is very uplifting to hear. :)

I have contamination issues. I've been in therapy for years but I just can't seem to do ERP...I am so fearful of hurting others. I've had OCD since like 7 years old...I'm now 47. It has ruined relationships including my marriage (8 years ago). I have always wanted to be a mom but OCD robbed me of that too. I have a supportive family of parents and siblings, but I am lonely. I wish I could, but I've lived this way for so long and just can't see myself ever getting well. I would love to hear how you have found some relief. Thanks for sharing!

This gives me a glimmer of hope. I hope to get to where you are

That's beautifully put. And I'm happy to read you have freedom. And good luck with the future of Coaching.

That's my thought today!! Perfectly imperfect. ☺️

Thank you ‘Katz101’ When we are in the pits of torment, you wonder if you can ever be free-I love to offer Hope as I know IT IS possible to know Freedom. If we have the keys, we can have more freedom to keep walking forward and not looking back. When it grabs me on very few ocassions now,.....we just have to keep walking like, ‘ I’m not going there’. It hurts a speck as I crush it by walking through. As far as coaching, not sure where that will lead but, anytime we can listen or be there for others, we are coaching- I just happen to have the tools and structure to do so. What helped me through my OCD was to take online courses. Keep learning everyone it’s an eye opener and it’s a distracter. My courses mostly do with psychology but there’s all kinds out there. Ps. I chuckle when reading my first post on this OCD community- I’m older in years-ha! I sound like I’m really old. I’m not that old unless a person is really young ha! ha! The Very Best to everyone on this OCD community. You really can make it through, please don’t give up. Jesus loves you-he loves us all🕊

There’s a saying I really love;

Ps. I think it’s important to add to the above: What helped me firstly was seeing an OCD specialist. VERY IMPORTANT to get help. Though can still see her on & off, she is technically retired-licence runs out end of this year.

Blessings-

So happy for you that you have found peace. I feel like I am moving in that direction as well. Been reading a lot of OCD books recently and it seems to really help me understand this disorder better. Thanks for all your kind words to others. ( I remember you were one of the first ones to respond to my very first post.). It truly made me feel happy.

Can I ask what books you have read!?

One of my favorites is “Freedom from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” by Jonathan Grayson. He really seems to “get” how OCD works. “Brain Lock” by Jeffrey Schwartz is also very informative. Anything written by Fred Penzel is fantastic and “Overcoming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” by David Veale (and another author) mentioned in this forum by SallySkins before is good. These are just a few that stand out in my mind but there are so many more books, articles, etc out there that can be so helpful!

Thank you for that, I have Brain Lock, and his other book too, I think it's called the Brain and the Mind, it was help by his books and YouTube videos that helped loads. I'll give these books you mentioned a read. 🙂

Hi LuvSun-I replied to you earlier but, I don’t see it here. Oh well, maybe I forgot to hit send.

Anyway, you sound like you are moving ahead -That is so nice to hear...and all the books you’ve been reading...there is so much online too-

And Thank you for your nice comments, I appreciate that.

And yes, finding more peace....After my first year approx. of being in therapy, I suddenly lost my mother-It’s like, really weird. I was very fortunate to have my therapist through my loss too. And, some big ‘STUCK’ OCD moments that needed working through and to move away from for sure. But, it’s almost like I had to move into freedom-HAD TO! It pushed me into making changes to keep moving forward, ERP and doing online courses. Oh, guess what one of the courses was-OCD Awareness 😁

Blessings to you - Blessings to all of us for more and more PEACE-

Thanks for writing-
