Taboo Tuesday: aggressive sexual obsessions/in vivo exposures

It’s time for Taboo Tuesday! I am Krista Reed OCD specialist in Wichita, KS and IOCDF advocate here to give you taboo only topics!

Lets continue with this months theme: aggressive sexual behavior- the fear of committing a sexual crime or being overly aggressive with a partner.

Last week I discussed compulsions and this week, real life (in vivo) exposures examples one might experience while in OCD treatment.

Worried about being or becoming a sexual offender; don’t google! And definitely don’t look on the national registry.  Worried about offending upon your child, change their diaper, cloth them, bath them- be a parent! Having obsessions about whether or not you accidently sent someone a sexual photo of yourself; don’t check, don’t ask if you sent it, and definitely not confess or apologize.

Treatment is possible Please ask your provider about treatment; ERP and ICBT are the most effective ways towards recovery!

Check out next week’s new taboo Tuesday for the month as I discuss imaginal exposures these individuals might experience

Stigma and shame die where communication and validation live ❤️
