Another OCD occurrence. I need help

I felt I should call my sister in-law yesterday, so I did from audio call to video call, then the OCD false alarm rang again concerning the black thing on their wall like a short dropping rope..not sure what exactly it is, couldn't see it clearly before their light was off and we continued with our call.

The intrusive thoughts suggesting the different things it could be is giving me unrest.

And I can't ask my sister in-law what it is.

I have tried to distract myself from the thoughts but won't go away

What should I do please?

I would suggest continue to do what you have planned. It will be uncomfortable but you know any other responses will feed OCD.

Also, I would think if your relative feels any concern about it, they are grown up’s and will know what to do

I shall apply such technique to every other trigger that might arise (any stuff on the wall, no matter what the colour or whatever it might be). Having another OCD trigger yesterday about some red and orange stuff on the wall, applying your help comments makes me feel better today

I have quite another trigger today seeing blue nylon hanging on a tree from the bus.

I did apply your comments and it helps

Cheers!

I think you have some understanding of how OCD is attacking you. Not reacting to the trigger either through actions or thoughts is the way out. I understand it will cause anxiousness which hopefully with time will lose intensity.

Do you have an OCD specialized therapy?

Thanks for your helpful comments. Not yet, I did refer myself to the hospital(NHS) online since a month ago for diagnosis and treatment but they haven't gotten back to me. Do you have one already? Or a link through which one can get ?

It's been 11yrs I have been battling with this OCD, all of the attacks I have had follows the same trend;

1. Sudden false alarm

2. Intrusive thoughts (different and many words of what the stuff could be (analysis), uncertain about what it is, might mean or might cause harm.

3. Doubt, fear and guilt

4. Suggestions of what to do (compulsion) to prevent uncertainty harm from happening(checking, reassurance, undoing or removing trigger if possible).

But still find it hard to overcome, prevent another awful experience from happening again.

I am just tired!
