His dad picked him and his friends up at 2am, dropped friends off, then dropped off Jake. And at 3am he woke me up to tell me he was going back out with them. Not unusual.
We found out, he took an Uber to the bridge and fell 50 feet to the ground. Not sure if it was intentional. I assume is was, since he snuck an Uber to a bridge.
But why wake me and tell me he was going out? Why not just leave? He had his phone turned off. We started calling at 4am because we felt something wasn't right. Tried until 6am, then assumed the phone was just dead. Tried the friends he was supposed to be with. Phones also off. Weird.
The police came at 8am. Some joggers found him at 6am. He is still alive which is a miracle in itself and I thank God so much for that!ππ
But now I need prayers for him to walk again. No broken bones or skull, but a shattered spine. 7 hours in surgery so far. Dave is at the hospital barely holding it together and I am housebound, with pain and cancer recovery.
Please pray for Jake to live and recover.
Thank you, Candice β€οΈ

Thank you everyone. β€οΈThe current status is we're 9 hours into surgery. Maybe 1 more to go. He is very strong and vitals have been stable. Then a plastic surgeon is going to come in to move some muscle around to support his back in the best way possible and close him up. That should take another 3 hours.
Prayer for full restoration of Jakeβs whole body, a cleansed mind and soul. Praying for you and Dave to have the continued strength, support and the MOST powerful, love of Christ Jesus Our Savior in this difficult time.
Praying for your son! May the power of Jesus put hope back in his heart and mind and help him walk again! So sorry for this to happen. God will carry you through this.
Praying as you are going through this⦠Lord, heal Jake and be with him, his parents, any other family members, and friends. Bring hope and healing, Lord Jesus!
Thank you everyone for your support and prayers β€οΈ They are working!
After 13 hrs of surgery, he is in the ICU slowly coming off of the ventilator, this morning.
They did a great job removing most of the bone fragments from the spinal cord and sewing up some leaks. He had a wonderful surgical team, that really took their time and did everything right. He still has some fragments in there as they could not be reached from his back. We will let him heal a little, and then reassess to see if they need to go in through the front to get those.
He had rods and screws holding alot together, but the swelling is coming down.
I did find out he was with his best friend. But that friend will not contact me. I am like the town boys mom, so everyone of his friends has been contacting me. I have them reach out to his best friend to try to get him to contact me. I just want to try to protect him as much as possible if an accident occurred before the police find out everything.
But there's only so much I can do, if he won't talk to me.
It's not a positive thing yet, but I have hope that this was all an accident and not the breaking point for Jake. That would go a long way in soothing my soul.
OH MY GOD IM HEAVEN!!!!!Those prayers have really been working. My husband was just allowed in to be with him and he has sensation and movement in his legs!!!!!
Everything has been really positive. He's even been drinking some water.
I just can't believe we got another miracle.
I'm so happy, I'm going to burst ππ
Please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming. We have a long, hard road ahead.
I'm so happy!!!!
Thank you all so much for your support and strength, prayers and positive energy. It means the world to me. β€οΈ
I am SO glad to hear this. As I prayed, I pictured the nerves from his spinal column connecting with the nerves in his legs and making them move. God has granted great mercy and love and I am so happy to hear that Jake has sensation and movement in his legs. Whew! Youβre a strong Momma. Keep it up. Jake will need you to help him process everything, and keep him on a healing path. Thanking God today and also lifting more prayers. πβοΈπ
Thank you so much for asking and the continued prayers.
He is still in the ICU for I don't know how long, then will be in the regular hospital for I don't know how long. Then into an Acute rehab facility in another hospital for I don't know how long.
He has been making remarkable strides with getting feeling and movement back in his legs. He can bent and lift them a little slowly, painfully and with alot of willpower, but that is a Godsend. Luckily, he was exceptionally physically fit when he got hurt. So that's helping alot.
Unfortunately, he has not regained feeling or use of his bladder or bowels. They keep trying different medications and physical therapy techniques but nothing so far.
And he has now been throwing up almost continuously the last 3 days. They are trying everything out there to stop that. They did try Marinol, yesterday, which is for chemo nausea, and it helped, so there's hope there. Next will be a tube down his nose to keep suction in his stomach and maybe that could relieve the problems.
He's going in for another CT today, to make sure nothing has changed or gone wrong. He does still have two fractured vertebrate that they are hoping will start healing on their own. They will give it a few months, but if not then more surgery. Plus if they can't get bowels to work soon, that's another surgery.
His spirits are good though and he is very strong.
We are just so incredibly grateful for how far he's come and for his amazing medical teams and keep praying for more improvement. π
He took three steps using the parallel bars todayπ€―πͺπͺ
He's so strong.
His bowels released. Thank God all of it is coming our after over a week. Still no control over bowels or bladder, but he is starting to have the sensation of feeling like he needs to pee. And can feel the catheter now, which sucks for him, but is a hugely great sign. So healing is still happening!
He may even be getting transferred to an acute rehab facility next week, if he keeps recovering so we'll.
I can't believe how far he has come in such a short time. God is really helping him out. He is one blessed kid!
His OCD and anxiety are still pretty bad, but Dad is with him every step of the way to help keep him focused.
They will hopefully start dealing with that part at the rehab facility.
All your prayers are working. I cannot thank you enough π for the prayers and support. You've really helped me get through this.
I am so happy to hear that he is pulling through and making progress! I am sending healing thoughts and prayers for him, you, and all who suffer from OCD.
JAKE CAN WALK!!!!!He can use a walker as of yesterday and can walk as much as he wants. It's literally another miracle.
He still doesn't have any control over his bladder or bowels and that's messing with his head pretty bad. But the doctors keep saying it's only a matter of time and to focus on staying positive until that happens.
I just can't believe it. What a wonderful achievement!
Thank you for your continued prayers, positive thoughts and support! Thank you so much β€οΈ
