Do you find Yoga helpful in managing OCD? #WellnessWednesday

At the beginning of the pandemic, I took up Yoga as a way to cope with the uncertainty brought on by everything that was happening.

I wasn't expecting much, mostly because I've never been a fan of slowing down, but I found that it brought me a lot of peace. No, it didn't cure my OCD, but it did help me check in with myself and learn to accept myself and my intrusive thoughts without judgement.

I have fallen out of practice with it due to being a busy toddler Mom, but I think I'm going to pick it up again as I feel I miss that 10 or so minutes of mindfulness in my day.

According to NOCD, yoga can help manage OCD by aiding with the insomnia many of us experience and by helping us learn to sit with our intrusive thoughts and mindfully redirect our attention when they enter our minds. Yoga has also been shown to improve cognitive function, mood and aid in managing stress levels.

I'll take that! Especially since I am admittedly terrible at meditation.

Have you tried Yoga before? Did you find any benefit?

I haven’t yet but I hope to in the near future just to try something new and also to see how and if it helps me mentally.

It sounds like a healthy thing to do. I guess I find yoga a bit intimidating because I feel like it's difficult to do correctly. Still, it might not hurt to try. 😮
