I was prescribed 50mg of seroquel for sleep about 9 months ago. A few weeks ago I noticed that it didn't seem to be working. My doctor upped it to 100mg but that didn't seem to work either. She prescribed Ambien and told me to stop taking the Seroquel. It's been about 6 days and today I feel like crap. I was wondering if anyone had had anything similar happen to them and how long it lasted.
If anyone could let me know I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

I don't recommend Ambien. I think it's been banned in the EU. Have you ever tried Trazodone? That gave me the most normal sleep, I think. Also, of course, try the usual sleep hygiene things: sleep in a dark, cool room, no caffeine after noon, no strenuous exercise right before bed, turn off screens an hour before bed, and try to go to bed at roughly the same time every day. And when you wake up in the middle of the night, don't lie there worrying. Turn on the light and read a book. Good luck!!! Oh, one more thing: if you spend a lot of time on a tablet or computer, you can change the settings to reduce/eliminate the blue light. Blue light seems to interfere with sleep.
Hello there. Sorry you’re having a tough time. It seems as though your doctor had you come off the seroquel much too quickly. Also, you can develop dependency with Ambien. I see someone else suggested Trazodone. That is a better option I think.
I hope you start to feel better and sleep better soon. Do you have any night time routine to help get you into a more relaxed state?
Thank you so much. I'm going to call her on Monday and let her know what's going on. I'm working on excercizing in the morning and doing some meditation at night. It's just been difficult because I haven't been feeling well.
I really appreciate the support here. It really helps!
I went off Seroquel 6-1/2 years ago. It wasn't easy; some of the withdrawal side effects were brutal, while some were just plain weird (like an inability to eat dairy...don't worry, it came back). The worst of the side effects were gone within two weeks. Feel free to read my blog for more information:
Also, please bear in mind that medication is highly personal, and what I experienced won't necessarily be the same thing you experience. Work closely with your treatment provider, and if you're worried by any of the side effects, let them know. Good luck!
I've gone from 325mg. to 5omg. in a short time. I'm an insomniac too. I couldn't sleep either so I'm on 400 0f Gabapentin for sleep and nerve pain in both feet. I'm dizzy all day and feel like crap. think the two are interacting. What can I do? Miss-Walker-95Plus
