I’ve recently been prescribed Paxil (Paroxetine) has anyone had any experiences with this, I’m anxious to start as I’ve read so many things that have called it the “drug from hell” and that relate to weight gain, weight gain is a huge fear of mine and was hoping for some advice or shared experiences.

I'm on Paxil. It seems to help me.
First, my son experienced prolonged, painful erections as a pre-teen on that drug. The pediatric urologist explained that it is known to have that side effect and in fact is sometimes prescribed to men with premature ejaculation. Second, going off it was a major pain in the behind. I would be very hesitant to use it unless nothing else has worked.
When it comes to things like heart health or physical problems, then you NEED to take your pills. I would say the same for depression. But there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with questioning the person prescribing you the medicine and asking if there are other options. It’s your choice whether you take the pill or not. After all your the one taking the pills, not the doctor prescribing them (at least most of the time). Questioning is good. Share your concerns or questions with your therapist and doctor. And DO NOT BE AFRAID TO PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN AND SAY NO TO TAKING THE PILLS.
Paxil was the one that worked for me. It helped from day one, which is rare. No weight gain. But it affected my bloodpressure so I had to lower the dose. With the help of Paxil I could start a new education and get a job.
I've been on Paxil for...geez...almost 20 years now. It's helped me a lot. You usually have to take a very high dose for efficacy with OCD, but the good news is that I found once I hit the higher dosages, the side effects actually declined. Haven't had trouble with weight gain. The main issue was, for a while, the inability to orgasm for the first month or two while I was on it. You can't just quit Paxil without tapering, and if you forget to take it, you will feel yucky, but I feel the benefits far outweigh any problems I have had. It would be nice if I could taper down at some point, but I feel so much more in control of my symptoms, I don't want to chance it right now. I hope you find it helpful. too!
