Hi Proshnost - I'm sorry to hear that you've been having a hard time ): Are you in any sort of treatment right now? One thing that helped a bit for my intrusive thoughts was trying to practice mindfulness, but when my intrusive thoughts were at their worst it felt like nothing helped! Anyway if you want to chat I am here

Tnx a lot I really appreciate it

I would like to welcome you to the OCD Support Network.

We are here to offer help and give hope to each other.

We are in this together.

I wish you good health.

When I had taken therapy in the past, I was taught to sit with the feared consequences of the obsession, in a room, to try to focus on it.

Also, to write down the core fear on a paper, and keep reading it.

This way the anxiety reaches its maximum level.

Slowly, you will get desensitized to the core fear.

Thus, the anxiety will get lower.

Another technique, is to let the obsession be there, but pushed into a corner.

There has to be no more discussion with the thought.

In the beginning there will be high anxiety, but it will get lesser.

The thought will slowly fade away.

We are leaving the thought just open, without giving any answers to it.

I hope this helps.

One thing I'm being taught for my intrusive thoughts or very negative thoughts is to separate them from myself a bit and label them as a thought. For example I might think, "I'm dirty" than I'm to change that to " I'm having a thought that I'm dirty" or "I notice I'm having a thought that I'm dirty." However, I also take medication that helps but doing this also confuses my brain a bit so it works somewhat.
