I just wanted to refresh our memories about acceptance of thoughts.
I usually read certain paragraphs from a book which help in this process.
These are the following paragraphs:
A good way to start disengaging from disturbing, obsessive thoughts is to accept them whenever possible.
By learning that it’s tolerable for you to have these thoughts, and by accepting them instead of battening down the hatches for a perfect storm of mental anguish, you’ll amaze yourself with how much energy and strength you can summon to do good things in your life.
If you choose, you can learn to respond differently to your thoughts, observing them and letting them slip back into the mental ooze from whence they came without engaging with them.
When the thought comes up, allow it to pass by without resisting or fighting it. By watching the thought pass through instead of fighting it, you can learn to deepen your capacity for acceptance and tolerance of the thought.
But your acceptance does not endorse the content of the thought or accept it as fact. Remember that your decision to accept it actually drains the thought of its power and intensity.
