Welcome, to the OCD Support Network.

I have OCD and depression, and going through this daily struggle, since many years.

This is the best place to learn how to deal with OCD, since we share our experiences,

of what tools each individual uses, for different types of OCD.

I would like to offer you my support in the journey of living with OCD.

Hoping you will feel better soon.

Take Care.

Hi, Rick. What is OCD like for you?

How are you ? I’m struggling with accidental harm ocd. It started with driving and manifested itself out of the car.

How about for you

For me it’s a nice mix of health anxiety and magical OCD. I am about to start taking Luvox and will see how that goes. In the meantime, I am seeing a therapist. Has anything helped you so far?

It’s been a struggle. 3 major therapists and some erp but overall I haven’t been able to get it into remission.

Are you seeing an ocd therapist

No and that’s one of my problems I think. My therapist says she will do CBT but we have barely touched on it. Instead she just talks a lot about my marriage (and her marriage) 😕

Yeah that’s not good

It’s tough because I feel very comfortable talking to her and I do feel better when I leave but I just don’t think she is as effective as I need her to be

Yeah erp is the gold standard

If she is not trained and experienced in doing ERP then you should find someone new. Don't wait. Talk therapy does not help OCD.

Welcome Rick, hope you're getting by as best as you can with this monster in our heads. My "thing" is health anxiety and I am going through a relapse now due to several changes and uncertenty in my life. Taking drugs again and trying to be positive and establish some healthy routines. Let us know how you're doing💪

Wolf06, you need to get a prescription for Luvox and some anti anxiety medications. The Luvox dosage usually needs to be quite high for OCD patients. I am currently on 500 mg per day, but in the beginning (I was hospitalized) I took 700/day! Not many doctors will prescribe that high of dosage, but OCD needs it. You might need an add on anti depression medication too. I know they say Luvox is for depression, but I haven't found it to be that effective.

You need to find another therapist. I realize they are so difficult to locate. I have had OCD for 35 years and know what you are going through. It can get better. Never perfect, but much better.

Mindfulness helped me to cope with depression . ERP + mindfulness is best combination for OCD with depression .
