I believe I am connected to someone who jumped in a river because I walked across a bridge on the same day close to where she jumped. I checked with a friend of mine with the police and he said the video they have clearly shows her jumping into the river. I see a therapist who says it is OCD and am doing ERP but still believe I was involved. It is very frustrating. Anyone else have experiences like this?
Thanks

My experiences are very similar. If I see a story on the news my OCD tries to come up with some crazy plot of how I was involved in the crime. I also struggle a lot with my OCD telling me that I’ve done past things or that every time I leave a friends house I have to check to make sure I did not harm them. Sometimes even getting reassurance, such as a text back from a friend or seeing the police arrest someone in relation to a crime is not enough. And for that reason it’s best not to engage with the thoughts. It’s hard to convince myself at times but I know that even if I check a dozen times I will still not have the certainty that OCD wants. We have to learn to live with and embrace uncertainty which is easier said than done. But please know that you are not alone in your experiences and I can confidently say even though I am still struggling ERP does work and has done wonders for me with my OCD. Keep fighting!
You should read Jeff Bell's book about his experience w OCD. I don't remember the name now, but if you Google him you'll find it. He had something very similar & it even also involved a body of water. You're not alone!
