I use zimmer in the house but wheelchair outside finding it really hard now as if my legs aren’t working and I’m dizzy, can’t even stand for a few minutes, I know I have low blood pressure especially standing and on a lot of blood pressure medication but do you think I would be better and safer using wheelchair all the time, just wondering if anyone out there has similar issues??

This tends to be most MSA sufferers problems as mobility fails.
For your own safety use aids such as a wheelchair to get around.
My Sue was exactly the same and started with a Zimmer frame. She then had a small electric wheelchair to get around which she controlled. Eventually should couldn't use that as her ability to control her hands failed so I mover her around.
Something to consider is that a lot of sufferers find that a fall or illness causes a further change in MSA so limiting these potentials is for the good.
thanks Paul, I think you’re right with using wheelchair because finding it very hard now even getting ready is a chore and using Zimmer is so hard now because when I stand up for only a few minutes I feel dizzy and exhausted due to blood pressure dropping I’m fine sitting and don’t want to end up in hospital as the last time I was in due to blackouts and falls I feel like I deteriorated so I’ll take your advice
Fortunately I can still walk unaided however I do suffer constantly from pain in the back of my head.
You are the only person on this forum to describe feeling the pain in the ‘back of your head’ and I totally agree with you. In the past I would have described the pain as being in my neck.
I find the pain gets worse when I am under stress. I take 2mg of Diazepam when it gets really bad and it sends to help.
weemaisie HiPlease note that protecting oneself from injury using all possible means is of paramount importance while walking. Have you discussed your low BP problem due to OH with your GP? Best wishes
hi PineEater, thanks for replying yes discussed my blood pressure issues with OT and Doctor
I’m finding Zimmer too light for me, so hubby will just have to guide me about from now on in wheelchair as I tend to fall over with Zimmer and don’t want to end up in hospital again.
