Hello, Jackie found the procedure unpleasant but not at all painful. It was soon over and we found the benefits far outweighed the difficulties. At first using the PeG seemed a bit of a faff but we soon got used to it.

The experience is different for each person but we were convinced it’s one of the best things Jackie did health wise.

Take care, Ian

my hubby wouldn’t be without it. It’s been a year. No infections and no complications.

I don’t think he would still be here without it as he cannot take anything orally any longer.

Changing the peg is a little unpleasant but it doesn’t hurt him.

Good luck xx

Hi, my Sue had hers done in September 2017. She was scared and as an ex nurse didn't like hospitals. But she decided to get it done. The staff were so helpful and it was over so quickly I didn't have time to enjoy my coffee.... For her it was over in a flash with zero complications. It has been the best thing we did as she is still here telling me off, if she hadn't had it done she wouldn't be here and we both know it.

You don't have to use it all the time but it's a massive help if the sufferer does feel well or having trouble swallowing.

my husband had his fitted 2 years ago he had lost so much weight and it really helped him gain weight and apart from the odd infection has been of great benefit as he also has most medications through it, unfortunately the illness has progressed but I don’t think he would have made it to now with out it.

hi

My husband had the PEG done 2 years ago. It was a game changer - he’s now at a good weight and that helps to face the challenges as it comes.

Apart from the nutrition milk that the dietician recommends - we blend an egg or any other foods that flow well through the tube.

The mixer highly recommended was Vitamix and we found that to be true. It was exceptionally good reducing food to the right consistency

There is a very simple monthly maintenance done at home and a painless PEG change at the doctors clinic 6 monthly

We had a dietician and that was indispensable just to calculate all nutrients was adequate including fluid and mineral intakes

Hope it helps. Take good care
