I'm sorry to hear that you are having these problems.I am a carer for a lovely lady with MSA and I find that D- Mannose helps prevent frequent uti's.She takes this daily, combined with drinking lots of lemon barley water and cranberry juice. When she does have a UTI our GP will prescribe a course of antibiotics which lasts for at least 10 days to ensure the infection is totally cleared I hope this helps you

As already suggested I give TC DMannose at night as prevention - more frequently if he has infection. He's catheterised- have also found changing night and leg bag every 5 days instead of weekly has helped.

Hi, sorry to hear this. Unfortunately infections can have a real impact on mobility. Please do contact your MSA nurse if things do not start to improve soon. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I hope you feel better soon, Demelza.

Hi there,

The only thing I can suggest is cranberry juice, I believe it helped me when I had a UTI.

Regarding balance, now that’s a complete pain in the proverbial!

I’ve taken to falling over a lot now which has its comedy moments, especially in public!

I just make sure I use my walking sticks / crutches everywhere now but, I’m taking possession of my new electric wheelchair next week so I’ll become motorised and a complete danger in public.

Keep on keeping on and maintain your sense of humour, thinks of you and everyone else who has to deal with this dratsab of a disease!

Yours

Alec

I loved pineapple juice after being told that it contained an enzyme that helped stopped me chocking but I do not think they meant one Ltr per day. 🤔🤔🤔😬😂

After a visit to the bladder nurse, she pointed out the error of my ways telling righty so that citric juice was actually a diuretic and to switch to cranberry juice!

I was told alcohol was a diuretic too but……I’ve not taken up pineapple juice again 😂
