Peg Infection update

Paul_and_Sue_Wood profile image

Hi All

After various discussions with GP and Nutricia nurses, we have concluded that Sues infection is an open wound infection and the best way to deal with an open wound ( cut) is to clean it regularly.

So we have been cleaning the hole 4 times a day with a strong saltwater solution.

The good news is it is clearing up at last and it looks like a good Christmas is on the horizon.

Happy Christmas all.

Thats good glad you are managing to get on top of it. I know my mum's peg site used to get quite sore at times and she had to have swabs taken to check for infection/thrush etc. She used to say it hurt sometimes when we had to insert and rotate it. I think because it is an open site the body is constantly trying to heal the site all the time bit like when you have your ears pierced. The hole just wants to close up and heal. Hope you have a lovely Christmas xx
