Sadly, My dearest friend Maggie passed away Saturday morning after a short bout of pneumonia. She was the most amazing lady who would do anything for anyone. I'm so thankful she's no longer suffering but am so devastated to lose her. She passed away at home, as she wanted and I held her hand reassuring her she was safe.
She was diagnosed with MSA in August 2022 and with Parkinson's in 2018 although she had symptoms long before that.
I wanted to thank you all. I learned more about this dreadful illness through you, the MSA Trust and online than anyone else in the medical profession.
I'll hang around in case I can help others with the experience that I've gained.
But from the bottom of my heart thank you again for the knowledge you've shared β₯οΈ
Caroline.

Caroline, Maggie was so fortunate to have a close friend by her side to the end. I'm sure you miss her very much but hopefully knowing she is now at peace gives you some comfort. Your continued advice on this forum will be appreciated - thank you. Ruffner
I am so glad that you are going to stay on the forum. You have learned so much in your journey with your dear friend over the years and will be able to help and support so many others.
Iβm so sorry for your loss. It must be such a hard time right now for you. You gave so much to Maggie to support her at the end. Itβs time for you to be kind to yourself now.
Hello Caroline, we are thinking about you. Glad you will be on the forum going forward and hopefully you will share some wonderful memories of your dear friend Maggie.
Hello CarolineMy thoughts are with you after the sad loss of your friend Maggie.
I lost my partner Richard 2 months ago due to pneumonia. He like Maggie was only diagnosed in 2022.
It was a shock to lose him so quickly, but I have to think that he and I were saved the pain and indignity of a horrible deterioration, unlike many other sufferers. It does offer some comfort.
So sorry for your loss,I lost my husband too in july 2023 and he was diagnosed during the hospital admission,we even didnβt know what was wrong with him, his MSA rapidly progressed towards the end, became bedbound and had pneumonia, severe neck pain, swallowing difficulties.I am still in shock and devastated, we were married for 30 years.
Hi Caroline. I am very sorry to learn of the loss of your friend. It is so incredibly difficult to see our loved ones out of this world. It is also a privilege to be with them and Maggie was lucky to have you right to the end. I do hope you will stay on the forum - I have just joined and my partner is newly diagnosed but has been unwell since 2015. I'm sure I and others could benefit from your knowledge and experience. Am wishing you all the strength you need.
Hi,so sorry for your loss,I have lost my precious husband from MSA in july 2023 ,diagnosed in hospital only 3 weeks before he passed away,I am missing him so much
Thank you all for your kind messages. I'm missing my Maggie so much. My world is very different now without her. I promised her I would be with her all the way through this dreadful illness and as hard as it was, I kept my promise. I miss her everyday π
